First time doing top down knitting, I need help to join in the round.

I haven’t used Petite Knit before, or top down…
I am ready to join the front and back yolks. I’ve knitted the row that knitted them together on the first side, and done the backwards loop cast on, now ready to knit the yokes together.
Do I do 1 more row with them joined together before starting the chart?
The chart starts with k2 p2.
At the join I have k3. But if I do one more row back to this point then I will be including the cast on stitches and can start with k2 p2 and that will fit with the pattern? (Because of the extra cast on stitches)
But the instructions say join and start the chart?
I have done up to the ✔️ on my instructions.
Maybe the line after that - join in the round is 1 whole row? Not just the join?
