Growth-oriented Fastener Manufacturing Owners

Looking to connect with growth-oriented Fastener Manufacturing business owners who are willing to explore software tools that might help reduce operational burden and human errors involved in tasks like: creating RFQs from enquiries, going through Purchase Orders to generate Work Orders, or reading through physical/chemical lab reports to generate Test Certificates.

Sat down with a fastener factory owner and mapped his entire day. It was worse than expected.

A friend runs a small fastener manufacturing factory. Order status lived in spreadsheets, WhatsApp, and people's heads. Compliance documents were typed by hand for hours every batch. One typo and an overseas buyer holds their shipment.

Three things we learned fixing this:

  • Manual data entry is usually where the money is silently bleeding out
  • Buyers calling for updates is a symptom. Lack of visibility is the real problem
  • Getting the team to change habits is harder than building the tool

For other small manufacturing business owners here, how are you currently tracking orders and managing compliance docs across your team?

Fastener factories still typing TCs by hand. Is this normal?

A friend runs a small fastener manufacturing shop. His QA team was manually copying chemical compositions and tensile values from lab reports into Test Certificates. Every batch took 3 to 4 hours. One typo and the shipment gets held, payment gets delayed by days.

Nobody had visibility into order status either. It lived across Excel sheets, WhatsApp messages, and people's heads.

We built a tool to fix both. Took us a while to figure out the right way to explain it, so we put up a landing page. Curious if people here think we got the problem right or are missing something.

Honest feedback welcomed: https://www.opscion.ai

How are fastener manufacturers handling Test Certificate generation?

A friend runs a fastener factory, and his QA team was spending 3-4 hours per batch manually copying chemical values from lab reports into TCs. One wrong digit and the shipment gets held while the customer delays payment.

Curious how other shops handle this. Are most places still doing it manually, or is there an ERP or tool that actually solves this well?

Also open to how people manage order tracking across the floor without it living in someone's head or a WhatsApp thread.
