I told my therapist about my self harm today.
This was so scary to do. So first of all, I am proud of me for doing it.
Today, my therapist told me that people who have experienced complex trauma for so long, like me, get addicted to the stress and pain almost like someone who is using drugs. He told me that it makes sense why I do not understand why I do it, and why I do it when the world feels calm.
He told me that it's the chemicals in my brain. And he told me it's not my fault. He said "it's not your fault."
It feels really comforting, but not real.
I guess I just want to know your thoughts on this? Is that a real thing?
