Heatpump makes a loud 'click' noise every hour - can we replace or dampen the relay?
Hello you wonderful electricians,
I just had a heatpump installed (Daikin ftxv20uvma) which, EVEN WHEN TURNED OFF ALL DAY, makes a single loud 'click' once every hour, most likely I'm guessing a relay in the unit. I believe it's doing an hourly self-maintenance kind of thing. It doesn't do this if the external unit is switched off. And it's the exact same sort of noise my ceiling fan vent, or microwave, make when they are switched off.
This heatpump is in a bedroom, so it's very disruptive to sleep. Sadly there is no setting to turn this off; it's an in-built feature causing it to do this. It's maddening that it happens even with the unit off and not using it.
Is there any possibility of getting an electrician to replace the relay with something that doesn't CLICK, or perhaps dampen it?
