Advise on a narcissist wife

I am a 36-year-old full-time electrician living in Vancouver, BC. I have been married for nine years, and I have reached my breaking point.

My wife exhibits severe emotional dysregulation, destructive outbursts (screaming, throwing/breaking household items, vanishing for hours), and controlling tendencies. She does not work, refuses to manage her mental health or daily routines, and isolates me from friends and family. I am expected to fund her lifestyle, cater to her need for constant entertainment and validation, and maintain a picture-perfect façade for her social media while she contributes nothing financially or domestically.

My primary concern is our 6-year-old son. She regularly slaps him over minor infractions, demands robotic obedience while she watches TV, and refuses to engage in his development or extracurriculars (like taking him to soccer). I spend every spare hour outside my physical job shielding him from her hostility, playing sports with him, and creating a safe environment so his nervous system isn’t constantly on edge.

I am completely burnt out. I’ve stayed because I was terrified that family courts favor mothers and that leaving would hand her full custody. My original plan was to endure this until he is 12 or 13, but staying in this toxic environment is breaking me and normalizing abuse for him. Any comments?

BC PNP

Started MBA: January 5, 2023 – June 30, 2024

Worked full-time as an Electrician: January 26, 2023 – Present

I received an ITA for BC PNP with 118 points.

However, the BC PNP program guide says that student work experience does not count, and it looks like I need 2 years of post-study work experience. Based on my timeline, I’ll be about 2 weeks short of completing 2 full years after graduation.

My deadline to submit the application is June 15, 2026, but my 2 years of post-study work experience will only be completed on June 30, 2026.

I spoke with two consultants, and both said BC PNP may count my entire 3.5 years of full-time electrician experience, even though I was studying during part of that time. But the BC PNP guide clearly says student experience doesn’t count, so now I’m confused.

Should I still apply anyway, or decline/cancel this ITA and wait for the next draw in July?

Would appreciate any advice or similar experiences. Thanks!
