Random tip about trying to design cool buildings

I only end up trying to make three or four pretty factories in a playthrough, and I'm lucky if the rest look like they've heard of gravity. One thing I've learned the hard way is that if you're going to make a factory look pretty from the outside, think about which direction the entrance is going to point. I just spent half an hour laying out the foundations and exterior walls for a structure when I realized the front facade is pointing away from the direction from which I'll usually be approaching this building, so I won't get to enjoy the (hopefully) cool effect without making a big detour. So now I'm ripping everything up and starting again.

Won't change your life, but it's another one of those "I just learned after 1000 hours..." posts. This one's the To-Do List.

Two things, and one of them might be a new, might be something old that I've never noticed. There's a double-headed up/down arrow beneath the To-Do List that lets you adjust the height of the thing if you want to see more of a long list, or make it smaller if it's too much in your field of vision.

Second thing is that I was looking at the hypertext formatting options (Hover over the question mark next to "Private Notes" or "Public Notes") and everything was making sense to me except the square brackets. Why would I need orange brackets? And why is x the only character that can get orange brackets? Finally it dawned on me that they're giving you a way to make your own custom checklist, where the orange brackets are a checkbox.

High school math teachers, what do you do to reinforce fundamentals in the beginning of a new year?

In part because my state allows calculators on the Algebra 1 state exam, I get plenty of students every year for my Algebra 2 course who passed that exam, but can't multiply single digits in their heads. Really hard to factor quadratics when you can't factor the number 24 in your head. Do y'all do anything to bring kids up to speed with fundamentals after a summer of forgetting? If I put too much classroom time into fundamentals, I get scolded for not teaching the on grade level.

Little detail that has annoyed me for a year. (I swear looked for a recent post first. This can't be the first discussion question on this.) Is it a bug or am I missing something with the flowrate indicator colors on pipes?

[EDIT: SOLVED. Just reloading the game fixed it. Ring colors match the pipeline after saving and reloading. Thank you, u/walknbullseye !]

I copy (middle mouse button) a purple pipe with purple rings, I get a purple pipe with purple rings.

I copy a blue pipe with blue rings, I get a blue pipe with the default Pipeline Swatch rings.

I build a default-colored pipe from scratch instead of copying, and then paint it blue, and now the rings match the pipe.

Is this buggy, or am I overlooking the easy way to get the same results predictably?

Edit: My workaround is that I've changed the default pipeline swatch to a neutral gray so that even if the rings don't match the pipeline's color, at least they won't clash.
