My “Lady with an Ermine” project

My “Lady with an Ermine” project

So, I’m booking for some tips to improve, but before you give any, please know these things:

  1. This was a school project, so I had a limited time, and they didn’t want me to buy anything, just use stuff around the house, so these aren’t the materials that I’d want to use. As such, I was using a cut-up t-shirt, which I learned later from this sub is not ideal at all for using for embroidery. But, I didn’t have any other usable fabric type.

  2. This is my second-ever project

  3. It’s not quite finished because, once again, it was a school project, and embroidery is, as I’m sure you know, very time-consuming. I decided from the start that I would leave her bust empty, and use it to symbolize what we don’t know about the OG painting.

  4. It looks like she has a weird shoulder pad because I tried my hand at shading (because, I think, it went very well with the titular ermine), but my limited color palette got the best of me.

Other than that, any criticism is helpful, and I hope you enjoy it!

Ex: Menuet, Fugue

I really like fugues because they have so much interest. I respect anyone who can play one by themself and I would like to compose one, one of these days.

I also really like Toccatas because of their nature, their namesake. I love the fact that they have so much lively spirit (normally), especially the one from Le Tombeau de Couperin, and the Toccata for Band (Currently practicing in my school band).

I’d like to hear your favorites of these, especially because I just want to learn more of them, and couldn’t find a good source (I love exploring new music!).

Edit: comments pointed out that “umbrella word” isn’t quite the right term. I mean, “types of common musical forms,” like waltzes and nocturnes.
