Need a New Mechanic

I am currently looking for a new mechanic. I had been going to one shop for about a decade that was really nice for a long time, but seems to have come under new management and the service has sunk.

The end of last year I had made an appointment to get maintainance done only for them to miss that appointment (my car was there waiting a day before) and then communicate to me that they were going to get it done as soon as possible, only for the repairs to be done over a week later. At one point the person on the phone told me they were actively working on my car in the shop, only for the next day me to call and have them say they hadn't looked at it at all. I took that as a one time issue possibly with newer staff, but now my wife had gotten into an accident and I got my car towed there and gave them a call around 2pm on a Monday that went to voicemail. I left a message thinking maybe this was some super busy day and called back again an hour later only to go to voicemail again. I had talked to my father and he stopped in since he was on that side of town only to find a completely empty shop that apparently just wasn't picking up the phone. They ended up calling me after that to get everything set up, but I think after this I am going to find a new place to get work done.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any shops they have frequented that would provide quality repairs and maintenance in vehicles. Thank you

I Hate Math Theory

Now, I get the importance of knowing how math concepts work, but realistically for most early Calculus or DiffEq a lot of it is unnecessary to actually solve the problems. Like, I don't get tested if I know the math definitions as much as just knowing how to do the math.

Secondarily, math jargon is basically made for people who already know it, so presenting it to students is possibly the worst way to express that theory. Like, sure, something being an element of all real numbers in three dimensions is cool, but how do I actually solve for that?

I am actually hoping my current engineering class covers more content my current math class does because engineering classes actually just explain the math and how it works instead of presenting us with canticles to the Omnissiah. The irony is that the math in my engineering course is honestly more complex than what we are learning in my math course, but in my math course it is basically you know wtf to do in a problem or yorue fucked. Like, it kills me because I'll be like "hey, this problem says solve for whatever, how do I do that" and math people will be like "well imagine you have vectors blah blah" like, no, I have numbers in a page that to be other numbers. Wtf those numbers mean can come after I actually understand how they work.

Best Resources for Linear Algebra

I am taking a DiffEq + Linear course and am currently struggling with understanding the material. Not the theory, but just how to actually solve problems. The first part of my course is about vector space, matrices, and eigenvalues.

The issue is my teacher focuses mostly in theory and doesn't explain very well how we actually decipher problems and solve them. The course is online, she doesn't have regular office hours, and I've spent a couple days with the school math tutors but many of them are either rusty or unfamiliar with the material so it hasn't been as helpful as I hoped.

The material I know best is actually stuff that has concurrently come up in my Statics course, since I generally find math explanations in Physics and Engineering classes to make far more sense. I need someone to show me how it works by banging some rocks together, I guess.

Thanks for any help 🫶🏻

I would let teachers rip out my fingernails if it improved my grade

Like, I am so fucking stressed.

I am a squelching, ungulant mass, writhing in defiance of God's redeeming light. I slither in the muck and consume only ash and bile. Cursed is my name and that of all my forefathers. Mythical were my aspirations, and just as mythical my descent.

If it would mean securing my grade in a class I would let a teacher pull out one of my nails with pliers.

If it meant securing an A+ in a class I would let a teacher stab me in the guts and twist the knife and would ensure none knew it was they who did the did as the surgeons attempt to refirge my hewn bowels.

I can see the all consuming darkness pouring out upon us. The gaping void that proves us bereft of souls. Woe to me, who believed to find meaning in a absurd, dissolving universe. We are all malignant tumors of sentience hemorrhaging into a universe that would undo us. Entropy is the siren whose grasping hymns pull us all into oblivion. Let Hugen and Mugen have the both of my eyes for the insight that burdens me blinds my reason. Let the worms flay me and the Earth consume my bones. I am withered. I am damned. I am undone.

I think I might've failed one of my classes and that's a big old bummer 😟

I just got a new 3D Printer I am using for college assignments, and realized I'm going to have a little collection of prototype models made from PLA by the end of the semester. I try to recycle as much as I can and was wondering if there is any place that takes PLA that I could go to.

Thank you
