What Symptoms have you Experienced as a type 1, that aren't really talked about or not that main stream.
So little bit of a long winded post, but I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes early this year, I'm 21 yrs old, and learning the ropes. I've done what I would consider a good job at managing my blood sugars, I was able to get onto a pump (Omnipod) fairly quick right about two weeks post diagnosis, it's now been 4-5 month and I got my A1c down to 6.1 since then, blood sugar wise pretty good my range has been in the green as well, occasional lows and highs but have responded well. When I first got diagnosed I had all the classic symptoms, tired, lethargic, lost a lot of weight 130 lbs at 6'1, was basically half blind and chugging gallons of water going into my primary care for the visit where come to find out I had an 11.9 A1c level. It was honestly a relief I played sports and was very performance oriented when It came to looking at my health, so to know I could get back to normal by just taking insulin? Great! I understood highs and lows were going to be part of it and are they annoying? Of course, don't feel great either. Unfortunately it's more complicated than that, and over time that enthusiasm is dying, as my pod is currently beeping at me, insulin is not this miracle cure like I thought, still not feeling great and even though a single task is not that hard it can for sure wear on you. I understand I'm very lucky with the insurance I have and the quick response with the pump, I also have a degree in Human Biology which is paying dividends. But what has stumped me and bothers me more now than anything is the unknown, I still don't feel completely normal, wether it's a bad headache, I don't get headaches, lethargic, or just straight tired, I find myself losing my train of thought more as well. I've gone to the doctor twice did more blood work everything appears to be normal. It stresses me out though. It's hard to believe my symptoms aren't of something worse because last time I had symptoms it turned out to be this Lifetime autoimmune condition called T1D. It makes you overthink every little pain and symptom now which I feel like isn't talked about enough. So my question to ya'll in the T1D community, even when you manage your sugars "perfectly" is there just symptoms that don't go away? Things that make you still feel off? Of course many symptoms are documented especially with T1D, but the world of autoimmune conditions is still very much unknown, so what symptoms/feelings do you feel aren't mainstream as a Type 1 diabetic?
