Hey everyone, need some guidance and would really appreciate honest advice.
I scored 98.77% in 10th and 94.58% in 12th. After 12th, I took a drop year for IPMAT and gave it my best shot, but unfortunately couldn't make it to IIM Indore. Since I didn't want to spend lakhs on private IPM colleges, I decided to join BSc Statistics at MCC. The entire degree costs only around ₹60k–80k, classes get over by noon, and it seemed like the most practical decision while keeping CAT as my long-term goal.
The thing is, I've been hearing from a lot of seniors that Statistics is quite a demanding course and that getting a 9+ CGPA is genuinely tough. That's probably my biggest concern right now
I'm also a bit confused about diversity points. As a male student from a Statistics background, would I get any academic diversity advantage during MBA admissions, or is that benefit mostly for non-engineers in general? I've come across so many conflicting opinions online that I'm not sure what the reality is.
My current plan is to use these three years as well as possible maintain a good CGPA, prepare for CAT, work on communication skills, get some internships, and build a decent profile. But honestly, I'm not sure what should be my priority and what actually matters the most when it comes to getting into the top IIMs.
If you were in my position, how would you approach the next three years? Am I overthinking the CGPA part? And is there anything you think I should start doing from first year itself that could make a real difference later on?
Please help this young pupil out . Any advice, suggestions, or reality checks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
