Clash in views when it comes to sexual entertainment...
I (F31) and my boyfriend (39) have been dating for a few months. We live in different cities, but are able to make trips every few weeks to see each other. We have had debates since we started dating, about many thing, but are always able to bring up our needs and boundaries, and most of our relationship is amazing.
Last night, we got into a conversation which ended up with him saying he enjoys going to burlesque show/events. He also said that he enjoys strip clubs, as well as other events which can get very sexual in nature (other attendees being nude, performing sexually suggestive acts, etc.). This made me feel very uncomfortable, and expressed this to him.
He assures me that when he's at these types of events, he doesn't partake in any sexual activities. He said he hasn't been to too many strip clubs, and that it's something he can stop going to entirely, but that he will continue going to burlesque shows and other events that have nudity and mild sexual acts happening. He told me that it's a big part of his life, and he that he only likes admiring the female nude form. I was able to calm myself down, and assure myself that he's not going to cheat, and that watching these performances is no different than watching porn (which I'm okay with).
Despite this, I am still uncomfortable with the idea of him going to these places in the future. Am I overreacting? Is there a way for me to get over my insecurities?
tl/dr: Is there anything wrong with a boyfriend in a going to burlesque shows and such, despite me feeling uncomfortable with it? Or should I look into ways of letting go of my insecurities?
