TLS Croydon

Hi, I’m a bit anxious here.
Basically I had an appointment with TLS Croydon today (18/8/26) and opted for scanning service simply because the there was no available date for the self scanning option…
The lady who has done my scanning seemed really not sure with the scanning process, and was not clear if she has scanned my documents both sides. There was also a QR code that separates the documents and uploads it to the right folder but she also has done it wrong (I knew it was wrong because my 2025 bank statement which was meant to be for evidence of residence was scanned under finances). She was also adamant of me helping her with my documents and kept on saying “yeah it’s fine I’m scanning it correctly”

If she has scanned my documents incorrectly or has not scanned the back side, is there any opportunity to resubmit documents? Very infuriating. I paid for the priority service and this may now delay my processing.

English test?

Hi, I am due to apply for citizenship. Ive been on skilled work visa for 5 years and before getting my first visa I had to sit an IELTS exam. This was in 2018 though.

I saw some posts that some people had to take another English test for the citizenship. Does anyone know how to go about this? Such a waste to sit another English test again.

Families with a London shared ownership property but moved outside London - did you keep your SO flat and rented it out?

We are in a position of a growing family and potentially moving outside London. We would like to keep our SO flat because we would like some of our London friends to rent it. Renting on SO is allowed on our building as ‘lodger’ agreement.

Anyone here on the same position? Or is it generally better to just sell the flat?

What are the things you look out for to know that a hobbyist has good jiu jitsu

A lot of us aren’t competitors. Some say it’s the hobbyists keeping the business alive.

What are the things that makes you think a coloured belt hobbyist has good jiu jitsu.

When can you apply for naturalisation if you are married to British citizen?

For context, I now am processing my ILR after living in the UK for 5 years on a skilled work visa. My wife is British. My colleagues said that I could apply for the citizenship the moment I receive my ILR so I am keen on applying for it as soon as I can.

I checked the website and it’s asking for an English test I do wonder if I need this if I am on a skilled work visa and have never needed such.

Hope anyone can advise that would be great. Cheers

Feeling stuck in my BJJ Journey

Training for 5 years. Blue for 3 years now. I’m at that point of frustration where I feel stuck in my game. I don’t compete that often due to personal circumstances (family responsibilities, etc) I’m in my 30’s but I do enjoy training quite regularly 3x a week.

How did you guys get that breakthrough of your blue belt plateau? Just can’t imagine myself how I’m progressing to get to the next level.

If there’s also instructional you’d recommend please drop em. Preferably at no cost!

Help a blue belt out with blue belt blues lol

Starting FTM process, how long is the waiting list for bridge @ lambeth self referral?

Hey team,

I am 30 years old SW London based. Today, after the longest time of self reflection, have finally decided to take this massive step in living my authentic self.

Does anyone know how long the waitlist is in bridge @Lambeth? And how are they in terms of gender affirming care? Is it worth me getting private care instead if the waiting list is long?

Hope anyone would be able to help.

When can I apply for ILR?

Hey team

I am due to apply for my ILR this Autumn. I’m confused as to when I start my 28 day countdown when I can proceed to ILR.

I arrived in the UK back in 29 September 2021. My work visa was approved 25 August 2021. I checked the government website as to when I can apply for ILR and it said ‘the earliest you can apply is 28 days before youve been in the UK for 5 years on a qualifying visa’ . When will my countdown start? Is it when I physically landed in the UK or when my visa was granted? Sorry, the website is quite vague!

Also - is it worth paying £500 for the expedited fee?

People who were in London shared ownership before, has sold equity and moved to mortgage a house, has it been a good decision for you?

Hey team

We’re looking to sell our 30% London SO flat.

We’ve built equity plus deposit for a house which might give us more funds for a house obviously we’ve also saved up as well to boost our house deposit.

For us, pros in staying in our 2 bed flat:

  1. Close to work and our lives

Cons:

  1. High traffic area so it’s constantly loud
  2. Some local alcholics and junkies loitering in the car park at some times
  3. Not much good schools around if we do decide to have kids

For me personally, I’m quite happy with our decision with the SO flat as we were able to have a place we call ‘ours’ however it also lost our FTB benefits if we do get a house in further london zones. Within the same breath moving further out will also mean longer commute unless we find somewhere close to Southeastern Rail or Thameslink (ie crystal palace, bromley, etc) and gyms, shops, etc might not be the same as what we enjoy.

Just a stream of consciousness on a Monday morning…
