Ok - I am starting to look at Les Paul guitars - planning for before Xmas

How can you tell a real one from a fake one?

Is there a way to tell what type of LP it is - I am happy to see a link I’m sure this is all treaded ground already.

I’m paranoid to look at local marketplaces and get ripped off.

Thank you in advance.

My fingers!

I am wondering if I am either playing too much or not taking care of my fingers.

Any advice/suggestions would help!

Also, here is my Taylor Mini GS saying hi to everyone 😀

Omg now I’m so nervous about my decision

I really thought I made a prudent decision about saving $200 on ordering the guitar I tried out today online.

Now I have the worst sense of buyer’s remorse reading so much about people buying the floor model.

I totally get it.

I really liked how it felt in my hands from a size perspective vs the other ones I tried. All in all, I would say I played it for about ten minutes. It sounded great and felt like the absolute perfect size.

I really felt good about the guitar’s feel but also felt that I wouldn’t be able to swing it for the extra $$ and wanted that model.

I figured the GC in NYC would not offer me a meaningful discount in-store and I felt the price was high for what I wanted to spend.

I looked online and I found and ordered a “mint condition” used one from Sam Ash on Reverb for $580 vs. $780 in store (all pre-tax)

Now what I thought was a very exciting day (guitar arrives Thursday), I am so nervous about.

I appreciate those commenting before. Just figured I would follow up on my own (deleted) post.

Thanks again to this community.

I got that feeling today and fell in love.

I’ve been reading a lot from this group and it has been so helpful and encouraging so I thought I would share my experience today.

Went to GC to try as many guitars as I could in my budget, even stretching a bit at the high end. I had asked about trying a FS830 which the store did not have, but while I was waiting to see if they had one in back (they didn’t, but I got to try the FG830 - beautiful, but too big a body for me unfortunately), I tried every guitar on the rack, trying as hard as possible NOT to look at the model / maker and just focus on the playability.

And it happened. I kept on going back to the same guitar. I almost got possessive when another customer wanted to try it 😀😀😀

It’s the Yamaha AC1R.

So I went online and found one for $580 used in mint condition and it’s coming Thursday. Definitely at the higher end of what I wanted to play, but the guitar had already spoken…It’s coming Thursday.

I’m so excited and I wanted to share my thanks and appreciation to all of the support here.
