Somehow, I have not seen many posts here about this, but 

Before cyberstan
Mechs had 850 health
For example, devastator rockets did 30 damage 
Meaning it took 850/30=28.33 hits to kill
(Note this does not factor explosive damage because it remains unchanged since before Cyberstan, so no reason to calculate it, so all breakpoint numbers are lower)

After cyberstan
Mechs had 850 health
The devastator rockets do 100 damage 
850/100=8.5 hits to kill

After the mech buff
Mech has 1600 health
The devastator rockets do 100 damage 
1600/100=16 hits to kill

I mean its not like rocket devastators, hulks, rocket troopers, and rocket striders are common enemies, and it's not like devastators have a 12 rockets per brust oh wait 

But to be fair, laser attacks still do next to no damage to the mech, so at least that was a buff 
And cannon turrets are no longer one-shot, but it does leave it on 100 hp, so it might as well
So mechs are still weaker than they were before Cyberstan 

As for the bugs, by and large, nothing changed over there. The mech was pretty much unkillable before and after these changes, but you have to stagger any heavy and kill spewers, which, to be fair, is how you always used mechs on bugs

I want you to remember all of the best major orders of recent memory and compare that to the number of interesting major orders of 2024 and how frequently they were. We get maybe one good major order a month or so. In the past, we had multiple good ones per month

The point of this post is to show the decline of quality of major orders in terms of what made them memorable and to show the major order system has not changed much since 2024, like the 4 main kinds of mo have not changed or have been added to 
kill x amount of enemies, liberate these planets, hold these planets, win more than you lose 

To be a note-worthy mo, you have to be special in some way. new enemy biome mission has stakes, give new weapons. It was a community-driven event.

Goal

  • Designated planets must be under Super Earth control when order expires. Malevelon Creek, Ubanea, Draupnir

Operation Swift Disassembly, Phase IV: Annihilation 
Goal 

  • ll Helldivers are ordered to make an all-out push to completely destroy the Automaton Legion. Liberate all Automaton-held planets. Tibit, Durgen, Maia

Special 

  • After the order, the Automatons no longer own any planets.

The Reclamation 
Goal 

  • The Automatons have revealed their true force: a massive invasion fleet sweeping through our territory. Defenses are scrambling. Slow its advance as much as possible. Succeed in the Defense of at least 5 planets.

Special 

  • The Automatons are reintroduced to the game. Introduced new mission type: Evacuate High-Value Assets. Introduced Super Destroyer Fleet Upgrade in response to the Automaton invasion which provided level four upgrades for Ship Modules.

Operation Legitimate Undertaking, Phase I: Citizen Rescue
Goal 

  • Brave surviving citizens on Choohe and Penta may still be saved, along with the weaponry they have continued to develop. Only the first planet to be liberated is likely to still have any surviving personnel or equipment. Choose Democratically. Liberate Choohe or Penta.

Special 

  • First major order to include a choice between unlocking two exclusive stratagems. The RL-77 AIRBURST ROCKET LAUNCHER has become permanently available after the liberation of Penta.(choohe was anti tank mines)

Deactivate the Terminid Control System 
Goal 

  • Termicide exposure has been linked to a hyper-reproductive adaptation causing massive bug outbreaks. Meridia is already lost, but the remaining Barrier Planets can still be saved. Deactivate the Terminid Control System on Erata Prime, Fenrir III, and Turing.

Special 

  • Introduced event-specific mission type: Deactivate Terminid Control System. Meridia is manually locked from play, and has had its biome changed to Supercolony.

Goal 

  • Liberate the despicable Automaton Petafactory on Varylia 5 so it may be converted into an EXO-49 EMANCIPATOR EXOSUIT factory. Liberate the designated planet. Varylia 5.

  • The EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit was unlocked upon major order completion.

Operation "Enduring Peace" - Phase II 
Goal 

  • Deploy to Meridia and use the experimental Dark Fluid to destroy the Terminid Supercolony. Destroy Meridia.

  • Has event-exclusive mission: Deploy Dark Fluid. Meridia was turned into a Black Hole after Major Order completion.

Rescue Children or Explosives 
Goal 

  • Two urgent rescue missions face us at once: Survivors in a children's hospital are trapped on Vernen Wells, and explosives critical for MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines are trapped on Marfark. Only the citizens or weaponry on the first planet is likely to be saved. Liberate the designated planets. Marfark, Vernen Wells

Special 

  • Offered players a choice for each planet: a reward of MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines or nothing. The Helldivers chose to liberate Vernen Wells first, giving up their third chance at the Anti-Tank Mines. As a result of the players' decision, Arrowhead Game Studios made a $4,311 donation to the Save the Children charity.[1]

Hive Break Terminid Nurseries 
Goal 

  • Reduce the Terminid population and clear planets for citizen settlement, utilizing the new Hive Breaker Drill to cleanse their nurseries. Liberate the designated planets. Hellmire, Nivel 43, Estanu, Crimsica, Fori Prime.

  • Introduced new mission type: Nuke Nursery.

Defend the Xzar Sector 
Goal 

  • The Automatons are attempting to reclaim the territory held by their initial Vanguard. They must be stopped. Designated planets must be under Super Earth control when order expires. Mort, Ingmar, Pöpli IX, Mantes, Draupnir.

Special 

  • SUCCESS. The Automatons have been rebuffed. The territory so many sacrificed to liberate remains safe in the hands of Freedom. The heroes buried at Malevelon Creek will continue to rest in peace. Meanwhile, efforts to dismantle or repurpose old Automaton factories have been redoubled. For now, the Automatons will spread no further in this region. A1-6-6

Goal

Eradicate Terminids on Socorro III
Goal 

  • In response to likely-embellished SEAF reports of new Terminids, the Helldivers are ordered to conduct eradication operations on Socorro III and establish a quarantine barrier on nearby planets. Kill 500,000,000 Terminids on Socorro III. Liberate Esker and Bore Rock.

Special 

  • SUCCESS. This latest unnatural slew of Terminid abominations has been quelled by the intrepid Helldivers. Even the re-emergence of the Impaler could not diminish the Helldivers' fervor for duty. However, a new and more potent threat has emerged, one which defies conventional combat. The interstellar spore cloud has continued to grow. It now encompasses several star systems, and is growing more every day. This unnatural phenomenon has been named The Gloom. Efforts are underway to determine the source and nature of this threat. Analysis of spores from Socorro III show a genetic connection to samples from The Gloom, indicating that it may have been the source of these new Terminids. The expansion of the cloud will likely spread these new Terminid variants to other planets within its vicinity.

Acquire Materials for Orbital Napalm Barrages 
Goal 

  • Liberate the Automaton stockpile of polystyrene on Vernen Wells and decommission the targeted number of Automatons to enable the production of Orbital Napalm Barrages. Kill 500,000,000 Automatons. Liberate Vernen Wells.

Special 

  • FAILURE. Despite the heroic conservation efforts, and millions of Automaton militants recycled into useful scrap metals, the Helldivers were unable to secure sufficient resources to rectify supply shortages. Fleetwide distribution of the Orbital Napalm Barrage will be delayed. The Automaton war machine continues to destroy the natural resources of the galaxy. Left unchecked, our natural treasures will be consumed by the forges of Socialism, until all that remains is a heap of ash and metal. The Automatons must be stopped, no matter the cost.

Start of the DSS major, a string of boring mo for 2 months that resulted in one of the biggest letdowns in this game's history, of course, that was mainly caused by speculation on what the DSS would bring, but the DSS took way too long to come to the game for what it was

Reduce Terminid Population 
Goal 

  • Raw Terminid population levels are at unstable levels, threatening to reach exponentially explosive rates of reproduction. In order to reduce the population most drastically, we will target specific medium-sized specimens that form the backbone of Terminid hives. Kill 45,000,000 Bile Spewers. Kill 100,000,000 Warriors.

Special 

  • The Orbital Napalm Barrage was unlocked upon the liberation of Tarsh and Mastia.

Secure DSS Construction Site 
Goal 

  • Liberate Clasa or Gaellivare to secure a construction site for the Democracy Space Station. Option 1: Liberate Gaellivare. Option 2: Liberate Clasa.

  • The Democracy Space Station became operational upon the killing of the 500,000,000 Terminids. While Gaellivare was under Super Earth control when the order expired, it was still under attack and was subsequently lost soon after.

The problem is it's an enemy that doesnt do anything

  • It's too slow to be a threat 
    • Since it can't close the distances, it can never kill a player who's paying attention

      

  • too slow to guard other bugs
    • Since it's so slow, most bugs end up running in front of it thus Hive Guard can't protect it
  • Doesnt really guard any bug holes 
    • The hive guard will run away from the bug holes it meant to guard, thus defeating the whole point of this enemy

So we have a guard-type enemy that can't guard anything, so what does it do
It has served one purpose to screw over a weapon class by either 

  • Taking too long to kill by hitting its sides 
    • I know you can shoot off its claws for a very fast kill, but I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem. I can't really see when I shoot off a claw; it blends in with the main body

     

  • Or by making medium pen shot at the same spot as a light pen, making the AP3 pointless

 

It's important to recognize that this enemy is just boring and either needs a rework or to be removed 
Also, the point of this post is that hive guards being a problem enemy is not a new thing. This enemy has been hated on for over a year now, and I'm happy that Arrowhead decided to do something about them, but the Ap4 hive guards go from screwing over light pen to screwing over medium, which just isn't it 
We can argue what needs to be changed about this enemy, but something has to be changed about them

Commando does 1100 damage, meaning it's a 3-shot

I'll just use Railgun and Recoilless if I want a support weapon against them, but man, I really just want to use the Eat
