Ielts or PTE to prep

I need to meet an English requirement for a master’s program in the UK. I took the IELTS without any preparation and scored an overall 6.0.
Now I’m considering taking the PTE Academic instead because I need an overall score of 69, with at least 62 in every section (Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening). I only have about two weeks to prepare.
Do you think switching to the PTE is a better idea than retaking the IELTS? Is getting 69/62 in two weeks realistic if I study intensively? I’d really appreciate hearing from people who’ve made the switch or achieved a similar score in a short amount of time

KCL or QMUL

I’d appreciate some advice from people working in investment banking.
My background:
BSc in Economics from a non-target Canadian university
Two investment banking internships at a small/mid-market investment bank in Paris
6-month internship at the IFC (World Bank Group), working on PPP and infrastructure projects
I’ve received an offer for the MA International Political Economy at King’s College London and I’m currently waiting for a decision from QMUL for the MSc Corporate Finance.
My long-term goal is to work in DCM, Sovereign Advisory, Public Sector Coverage or Syndication, but I’d like to start my career in investment banking in London or Paris.
Given my background and career goals, which programme would you choose? Would King’s stronger reputation and network outweigh the more technical Corporate Finance degree from QMUL, or would you recommend the finance master’s instead?

Which master’s would better position me for DCM / Sovereign Advisory / Public Sector in investment banking?

I lied about my education on a CV for a networking event. Could this hurt me if I apply to the same bank in a year?

A few months ago I applied to a selective networking event at an investment bank and got invited. The CV I submitted overstated my education (listed a master’s degree I don’t have and a more prestigious university for my bachelor’s). My professional experience, however, was completely accurate, including investment banking and infrastructure finance internships. The event was only a networking event, not a recruiting process. If I apply for an internship at the same bank in 1-2 years using my real CV, is there a realistic chance this comes back to hurt me, or would nobody ever compare the networking-event CV with a future internship application?

Durham admission with a 2:2

Hi all, French applicant considering Durham’s MSc Corporate and International Finance for Sept 2026. My undergrad GPA is a 2:2 equivalent (2.6/4.3, Economics, Canadian university), but I currently work at the IFC (World Bank Group) for 6 months (fixed term contract) and did two investment banking internships before that. The programme page mentions some flexibility for candidates with relevant finance experience who narrowly miss the academic threshold. Do you think I have a real shot? Also heard places can close once nationality quotas fill anyone know how fast that happens for this programme? Thanks!

Should I realistically apply to King’s College London MA International Political Economy with a 2:2 equivalent GPA but strong professional experience?

Do you think I should apply to the MA International Political Economy at King’s College London?

I have a 2.7/4.3 GPA (roughly equivalent to a UK 2:2 I believe) after a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from a Canadian university

However, I also completed: two investment banking internships in Paris , • and I am currently working at the World Bank (IFC) in Abidjan on a 6-month contract focused on infrastructure / PPP projects in West Africa.

I contacted the admissions department and received the following response from the admissions tutor:

“Thank you for expressing your interest in the MA International Political Economy program. Your work experience and other considerations can certainly make you a suitable candidate. I recommend submitting your application and including this email as an additional document in your file.”

So now I’m wondering realistically: • Do I actually have a chance? • Can I apply without IELTS initially? (I have a McGill University English certificate at C1 level, but it dates from 2019 + I work daily in English at IFC). I can also take the pré sessional courses • And for the transcript, can I submit my original Canadian transcript first or should I get it officially translated into English before applying?

Would appreciate honest advice from people familiar with UK admissions / King’s.
