how do you manage writing with your 9-to-5/6 (or whatever your regular working hours are) and home responsibilities?
I wake up early but I don’t get time to write because of gym and prepping breakfast and lunch. At work, I barely get 30 mins for lunch so there’s no way I can manage something during that. I cannot even work on simple ideas at work because my workplace is too toxic to allow me that. We’ve got cameras with high quality AI to track what each employee on every desk is doing, there are screen trackers on our laptops to track every minute of our work hours. So, planning & plotting on desk is also impossible. My commute takes to-and-fro almost an hour or more, plus I drive so, again, it’s tough. By the time I’m home, I’m too exhausted to write or think anything creative. I try to write on weekends but because of the kind of weekdays I have, I feel too drained and keep on procrastinating. Plus, I feel too guilty not being able to give my family time so I try to spend the weekends with them. I don’t know what to do. How do you guys manage? sorry for the rant. It’s just that previously I used to be so creative, write so much, but then I was laid off and got new job, and for the past two years, it’s been like this. I can’t quit because I’ve got bills, mortgages, etc. writing is my dream, it’s something I’ve been meaning to do for the past ten years. what do I do?
how do writers write a scene? do they Google/Pinterest inspirations for setting and then describe it? or just start typing whatever’s on their minds?
curious. I have so many ideas but I end up wasting time searching for scene settings on Pinterest and then write. Like if I have to write a bar scene, I’d find a couple of pictures, pick the best one, paste it on doc and then start writing about the scene being played in it. Is that normal? Or how is it done?

I’ve got a 10-year old unedited draft of complete romance trilogy. Wanna start writing again. Shall I edit or write something new? Returning to writing after 2 years gap. I wrote when book series were a thing which now apparently no one has patience for when it comes to romance or so I’ve been told.
So a little context. I started writing back in 2014. Initially started on Wattpad but took things offline sometime around the pandemic. Life happened so I never actually got to finish my works back then. I’d be writing and rewriting and just like that it took me 10 years to wrap up. I planned on editing it so I could think about publishing, but due to personal circumstances I’d to drop that plan. Been away for the past two years. Haven’t written a thing. Or edited. What do I do now? Shall I pick up the editing or write something brand new? Maybe on Wattpad and build readers because I read on so many forums that unless you’ve got a huge social popularity and large number of readers, no publishing house or agent would touch your work. I don’t have any social following because I never thought of it, plus I’ve been to consumed dealing with my job and keeping life stable that it never was my priority. Please suggest.
