Quirky vintage beaded bag

Hi! I was given this bag by a co-worker (lovely upscale lady on the Upper East Side!) and was curious about its origins. The tag on the inside says Hashimoto but the metal snap says Towanny. Any of you have more info? 1920s? 1970s? (70s is my guess)

Truman Capote

Forgive me if this has ever been asked or is an absurd question that shouldn’t be asked. Haha. Am I hallucinating or was Truman Capote once a character on an episode? I swear I remember this but can’t find any evidence. Am I crazy??
