I hate the term “no hate like Christian love”

I know this is Reddit, and Reddit hates religion, so I most likely will not get any agreement on this at all, but I really hate that phrase. It’s such a dumb thing that makes unfair generalizations about a group of people because some people in that group are terrible. News flash, every group ever has horrible people, including non religious groups that promote “peace and love”.

Again, I know this is a terrible site to post this, but idk.

Strike me down with all your hatred.

This may be a stupid question, but it eats at me now and then, so I figure it doesn’t hurt to ask. Also, I’m aware “nepotism” might not be the proper term here, but it’s the closest one I have.

So, I applied to a job at a grocery store a while ago. They ghosted me (of course). I applied again along while later. Same thing. The third time (again, a long while later), I asked someone I kind of knew if I could put them down as a reference. Now, I don’t really know this person all too well. We went to the same church, I knew both his kids (who were both quite a bit older than me), but I never really interacted with him. Anyway, he is a bit of a senior employee there. Not part of the hiring team or anything (he runs the floral department), but from what I understand he’s pretty respected. Anyway, I texted and asked if I could put him as a reference, and he said sure, and he’d tell the hiring manager to keep an eye out for my name. Long story short, I’m working there now. I feel like I’m doing decently well, so I don’t feel like I’m unqualified or anything. Still, sometimes I feel like I was “cheating” and didn’t actually get the job through my merit. So, AITAH for using “connections” to get my job?

TL;DR I asked an acquaintance who is a senior employee at the job I was applying to if I could use them as a reference, and I got the job
