ROV davit / mechanisme to lower ROV in a port

Hi all,

Im working with a few ports and other water companies where i do ROV inspections. we recently purchased a big ROV with sonar and other gadgets, but its a heavy 32kg ROV

The issue is that its heavy and lifting it in/out of the water is an issue. We also work at varying/remote places all the time, so we cant montage a strong crane somewhere. We do have a transport van.

We found a solution of a 3M davit, but the arm is too short for most of the tasks. Thats why i decided to come here and ask others around the world of solutions to get an ROV easy into the water when its heavy and big

Played my first game and have questions

So I played my first game and i loved it. Its fun to create a story together and having a laugh about the random stuff you make up. I just have so many questions and struggle with connecting to the story.

So i joined a campaign that is already on its 5th session. And the thing I'm mostly confused about is the difference from DnD where i could just make up the most insane abilities and hope i roll a d20 for some massive BS.

In daggerheart i feel like i need to think de-buffed and only use the simple lvl 1 and 2 spells i have. Make up where locations are before heading a direction. Creating items out of thin air to make up a story? I dont really get what you can and cannot do to create the story.

So; can i tell my GM i want to look for a person, say that i head north to a labaratorium or something where i expect that person to be working on a new blueprint for his future plans.

in this example, i have never heard of what this person is working on, i just made up that blueprint. i have no idea there would be a labaratorium, i just made that up. etc.

I just dont get what the limitations are of making up the story versus the story the GM has in mind. but then maybe having a GM have a story in mind is probably more something that happens in DnD and not DH

Gonna play my first game

So I made a wizard fungril for my first game. Im joining a group who already plays sometimes and I would love to dive into how the game works beforehand. Tomorrow we will be with a group of 5 which my GM has warned might not be the best experience, but I want to try nonetheless. Any good guides or tips I could use? Only played dnd once 5 years ago. I've also played gloomhaven if that is somewhat relevant. All the other games I've played are not really near this genre

What to expect

So I got invited for a campaign of daggerheart and got asked if I wanted to join just 1 game or a full campaign with monthly sessions.

It sounds fun, but I have no idea what to really expect. I did not reaalllyy enjoy playing dnd when I first played it a few years ago, but this is a new group, new people, and, well, not dnd but daggerheart.

In recent years I've liked playing mtg and gloomhaven. Its a little tiny bit RPG, but not so much. I also kinda disliked the RPG of dnd as it was just too much. So I was wondering what I can expect from daggerheart and if I can enjoy this game. So please enlighten me, get me hyped, or tell me your bitter truth :)

What to know before beating my friends in ArkNova Marine World

So I played 1 game in the original game with my friends. They have all played before so they beat me by a landslide. Now I've been watching tutorials and guides for the past 4 weeks, but for the second game we gonna switch to Marine Worlds, which none of us have played at all.

As I already suck in the base game, I was hoping that with the extension pack, we all have a small handicap, and wanted to get some tips on reddit so I could catch up on some good tactics and beat my friends this time. So ya'll got any good tips on what to expect and what to focus on more in Marine Worlds?

Thinking of switching

So I finished software engineering college 4 years ago, started working, changed companies and the company I work for now made me an ROV operator. During the application they did ask me if I wanted to do commercial diving as I have PADI AOW and interests, but it came out of nowhere and I had no idea so I didn't and went for the ROV option

Now 8 months later, seeing my diving colleagues and asking them about the job, it start to tingle and I want to make the switch to commercial diving. But I would love to know all the things you don't like about the job, or anything I should know before letting my manager know.

This company does onshore diving. So its a little less of a barrier to start. But if you start, you need to stay at the company for atleast 5 years(to pay back the diving course). So before diving into this decision, I would like to know if I'm making the right one
