Hi everyone,
I recently bought this helmet for €90 shipped.
The seller says it was found years ago in the Bagnara di Romagna / Senio River area, on the Gothic Line in northern Italy, where German troops fought during 1944-45.
According to the seller, it has not been cleaned with oxalic acid, only a light coat of Vaseline oil was applied to protect it.
I have a few questions:
Does it look like an original German M40 shell?
Do you think €90 was a fair price?
Do you think there’s any chance a decal could still be hiding under the rust and dirt?
Would you clean it with oxalic acid, or would you leave it as it is?
I’d really appreciate your opinions. Thanks!
