I just got this helmet and I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know a lot about it. Has markings “333” and what I believe to be “SE34” inside. I’m clueless as to what model this is or what it’s worth.
I’ve had this m42 for a while now and I want to confirm if it’s ss or not. The guy I bought it from said it was, but I never believe what they say. There are remnants of a ss decal, but I can’t confirm if thats real or not. Also the lot is either 1051 or 1351 but I can’t tell. 1351 would line up with an ef66 sd ss helmet found in the German helmet vault list. What do y’all think? The 2nd slide shows the decal remnants (very very hard to tell) only an outline and a few white specs
this site is selling ww2 and ww1 militaria for insanely cheap, does anyone know anything about them? i think its a scam but it seems too good to be true, has anyone had any experience with them before?
I know that m17 chinstrap were made out of canvas webbing type of material with a slanted line twill or whatever the name of that is but I cant find it anywhere and only places I knew that made these stopped making em or they aren't responding
Found on a field i just oiled it a little to stop the rust.
Edit: The helmet was found in Croatia, in an area where German and Partisan forces actually fought. Two holes are made from the inside out. I’m wondering if this could be shrapnel damage. If it was target practice, why would someone use grenades or explosives? The holes are pretty large and look more like fragmentation damage to me.
One of many German Helmets we have at our Museum. We plan to be reopening within the next 90 days. Hope you enjoy!
Just got this new addition to the collection. Payed $400 for it but I think it was a fair price!
This is a battle damaged Hungarian M38 helmet with a large stress crack at the top ( most likely having been caused by artillery ) , with the remains of a possible SS helmet cover still visible on some parts of the helmet.
The backside of the helmet is missing , having either been broken off by the artillery hit , or having corroded over the years.
This helmet was found near Budapest in Hungary , having possibly once belonged to one of the soldiers from the 22nd SS Volunteer Cavalry Division "Maria Theresia" that fought , and was largely destroyed during the Siege Of Budapest in 1945.
Hungarian SS divisions are believed to have used Hungarian helmets due to the shortages in the later phase of the war , often without SS decals ( based on period photos ) , instead most likely opting to use SS helmet covers to distinguish themselves as SS.
If the cover is in fact SS , this helmet is almost certainly one of the helmets used in the final months of the division's existence , due to it being a Hungarian shell - which was most likely apart of the equipment captured by the division earlier. If that's the case , this helmet is incredibly rare as most of these Hungarian shells are unfortunately indistinguishable from regular relic helmets after the cover rots away.
On the last photograph members of the SS division can be seen posing with collected and surrendered weapons in a barracks courtyard at Buda Castle in Budapest during Operation Panzerfaust in October 1944. Much of the captured equipment would end up being used in the late phase of the battles.
Was sold this one, told it was a M35, probably used during the Spanish Civil War but I have no guarantee and I never buy for the story (but this was a good deal for just a pot.) and seems it’s got post war paint, is anything else I should know? Thanks all.
This helmet looks like it has never been issued it’s amazing, is it worth the money?
Hi, can anybody tell me if this liner looks correct? Thank you!
