I built an AI skincare app and I’m struggling to get my first real users — would love honest feedback
Hi everyone,
I’ve been working on SkinBuddyAI, an AI-powered skincare app that analyzes a selfie and gives you a personalized overview of your skin.
It can look at things like:
Acne
Pigmentation
Redness
Skin texture
Dark circles
Hydration
Puffiness
It then provides a skin analysis, personalized routine, product compatibility information, and progress tracking.
The app is now live, but honestly, my biggest challenge right now is getting people to actually discover and try it.
I’m trying to figure out:
Where do people actually discover new skincare apps?
What would make you willing to try an app like this?
Is a selfie-based skin analysis something you’d find useful?
What would make you trust an AI skin analysis?
What features would you expect before paying for something like this?
For those who have built apps/products, what worked for you when getting your first 100–1,000 users?
I’d also really appreciate brutally honest feedback on the concept, onboarding, analysis, or anything that feels unnecessary.
I’m not looking for people to blindly promote it — I’d genuinely like to understand what I’m doing wrong and how I can improve it.
If anyone is interested in trying it and sharing their experience, I’d be very grateful.
