Reverend insanity is a webnovel about a transmigrator turned regressor named Fang Yuan. It deals with themes of morality and what it means for a five hundred years old demon's take on what is morality. What it means to survive in a ruthless world such as the Gu world. One of its greatest strength besides its power system is the main character Fang Yuan itself. While most main characters including those from other cultivation/Xianxia genre would justify their actions when it comes to commiting atrocities most people would deem as evil. Fang Yuan will not simply because to him justification is meaningless unless its just for appearance sake to get him closer to his goal of true eternal life. infact he is much more cruel to himself than to others simply because a demon is more unforgiving to himself if it means he can achieve what he wants. Infact i'd argue that Fang Yuan is the greatest victim of Fang Yuan's actions. although it does benefit him, it also gives him greater pain. Another interesting thing about him is his relentless will. Although he is ruthless, he does not do it for ruthlessness sake. His resolve and his willingness to wager his life makes him much more attractive and well written as a character. If it doesnt bring him benefits, he wont commit atrocities. If push comes to shove and he needs to mutilate himself, he'd gladly do it for his cause. He will not give up unless he dies or he achieves eternal life. A life where no longer shall he be toyed by fate. A life where he does not need to bow to anyone nor any being. Be it his enemies and the heavens. The righteous and the damned.

Another strong highlight of this novel is it's power system. Compared to most xianxia stories where characters can blow up universes, its quite grounded. And compared to other cultivation novel where the power system follows generic cultivation stages like qi condensationstage, foundation establishment, golden core, and nascent soul stage etc. RI does something different. The idea of insects being split fragments of a great Dao is such an interesting take. And how 'Cultivators'/Gu Masters cultivate then is such a refresher when it comes to cultivation genre as a whole. Them taking the need to care about their Gu makes the story fun and more interesting than just breathing to grow stronger.

So why is it not good in terms of writing? Cause writing is subjective!!! There is no objective in being well written! Themes amd such doesnt matter! Non of it does! Hell, Fang Yuan? He isnt a well written character simply because writing is subjective!! There could be some person who read this and claim he isnt well written nor is the novel. The power system? Not that important nor interesting! Cause all is subjective. There is no good story. There is no "peak". No great development, no great dynamics, no great world building etc. There is no great anything! Such as there is no eternal life!

CAUSE EVERYTHING IS SUBJECTIVE!!! THE TRUTH AS WE KNOW IT IS SUBJECTIVE!!!

One would argue that the sun is bright. Heck one could even say its the truth! But what is light to those who are blind?! What are sounds to those who are deaf?! To those born blind, the sun may aswell be as dim as their sight! To the deaf, the sweetest of melodies may aswell be the same as any noise based on their understanding of what sound is supposed to "sound"! If they can understand the feeling of sight and hearing that is.
