Starting AFROTC as an AS100 at 21
Hey all I'm about to start AFROTC next week as an AS100 (full four-year program). I'm 21, already a junior credit-wise from transferring in, so I'm looking at doing 4 years of ROTC while probably extending my degree path (thinking a double major) to make the timeline work.
Kind of feeling two things at once: excited to finally be starting something concrete toward active duty, but also a little in my head about being 21 and looking at 4 more years before I commission.
Anyone else start ROTC a bit older, or extend their degree to fit the program? How'd it go did the age gap with younger cadets feel like a thing, and did you feel like the extra time was worth it once you got to commissioning?
Any advice, or "wish I knew this going in" type thoughts are welcome.
