Late Spring

We've had a chilly, gloomy couple of months here in Ohio. Gray days, cool days, rain, frost. I've been impatient to walk into spring.

This week, it broke. I got busy. My annuals are planted, my outdoor seating is set up, I finally found a good place for the gazing ball somebody got me, and I spotted a hummingbird nest.

There is still more to do, but I'm happy. Things are mostly done before the heat gets here. That's scheduled for Monday.

Primative

My mother bought this years ago, I don't know where. There are no marks of any kind. The metal has tarnish, but hasn't changed in the 20 years I've owned it.

The dangling bits are probably bone, the round part is most likely a tooth.

The chain is just 2 inch pieces of metal, joined by loose metal pins. The clasp is a simple hook.

My son got his first job at 27.

Exactly one week ago, my 27 year old son started his first job. He's now a carry out person at a regional grocery store. $11.00 an hour plus tips. Part time because we want to ease him into it. Part time because he wants to keep volunteering at the hospital that has bolstered his self worth. Part time because nobody wants to disturb his disability if it turns out that he can't handle the job.

So far, he likes it. He likes it in sunshine and cool temperatures. With a kind trainer and dry feet. With a 4 hour shift in the middle of the afternoon.

Wish him luck. Please.
