Cat’s amputation stump is losing fur and developing small sores – is this normal?
Hi guys!
My cat had his front left leg amputated when he was only 6 months old. He’s doing great overall, and the amputation was about 5 months ago.
Recently I noticed that the fur at the end of his stump has become thinner/lighter, and he’s developed a couple of small sores. There’s no swelling, no bad smell, and he’s acting completely normal.
I think it might be caused by friction. We recently moved to a small island for work for about six months. There are no cars here, so he spends a lot of time outside, running freely around our property. The ground is mostly rocks and concrete docks, and he loves being by the sea, so I’m wondering if the stump is rubbing against those surfaces.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a veterinarian on the island. I called a few clinics, but they said they can’t really assess the situation over the phone without examining him in person, which isn’t possible for us right now.
Has anyone experienced something similar with an amputee cat? Does this look like friction sores, or could it be something else? Also, is there anything safe I could put on the stump to reduce direct friction so it doesn’t get worse? Maybe some kind of protective sleeve, bandage, or another solution that has worked for your cat?
I’ve attached a photo in the comment section
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Sony A7C II + 20-70mm F4 G for travel and street photography?
Hi everyone,
I’m about to buy a Sony A7C II and I’m struggling to choose my first lens.
The lens I’m currently considering is the Sony FE 20-70mm F4 G because it seems very versatile for travel and everyday photography.
My main interests are:
Street photography
Travel photography
Nature and landscapes
Small details and everyday moments
Two years ago I made an impulsive purchase and bought a Nikon D850 with a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR. While the image quality is great, the setup is simply too large and heavy for me, so I rarely take it on trips.
That’s one of the reasons I’m moving to the A7C II.
Do you think the 20-70mm F4 G is the best all-around travel lens for my use case, or would you recommend something else?
Budget is flexible, but portability is very important.
Thanks !
