Posted here a few months back when it looked like my Stormy might become a tripod, and whelp, here she is, minus one leg. Surgery and recovery have been going really well, which is a relief after some extra drama leading up to it. All tests show that the mass was a localized sarcoma and she should have many more years ahead of her.
However, in true Stormageddon dramatic fashion, my overlord has been lodging complaints about not being able to jump up and take her proper place between me and the other human on the bedsheets with us every night and yet gets offended when I try to lift her up. I was looking at purchasing her steps to get up with us since the stool that I tried did not meet her approval, but I have been overwhelmed by the options.
Can anyone recommend steps to return the Queen to her rightful place?
Hey guys just wanted to show everyone my foster cat I’ve been housing for the past few weeks coleslaw. He had his leg amputated just before I received him so watching his progress has been really rewarding. Little guy is a tiny ball of affection and he’s got eyes that’ll melt your heart. He’s also all set for adoption so if anyone’s interested in Philly area feel free to dm!
My tripod has their back left leg amputated. Often that side has an itch, you can see her try with her nub. We itch it. But lately it’s been insatiable. She nearly contorts herself to try and itch. Any ideas or suggestions to help this??
My Ash will be having surgery tomorrow to amputate his leg hind leg after he got it caught between 2 wood slats on a fence when he attempted to jump it. XRay shown 2 separate breaks and a fracture near the hip..Vet suggested amputation as splints/cast wont guarantee proper healing for a 9yr old cat. This all happened on 8/14/26 ..he's hobbled to the litter box, water fountain and in our LR so i know he can walk. Im just worried abt the healing process after surgery. Glad i work frm home so he wont be alone during the day.. Reading all the success stories kinda puts my mind at ease abit. 😊
Théoden is 3 years old and recently became a tripod (rear right leg) having had surgery on 13/08/26. He was missing for 4 days and was then found by someone and taken to a local vets. The Vet thinks that he was likely hit by a car.
It has been an incredibly difficult week, to say the least, he has been through so much. We are hopefully bringing him home tonight and are so excited to be with him again!
We’ve prepped a safe and quiet space for his recovery and I’ve been having a look through this subreddit for tips and extra info - thank you for sharing all of your stories.
We’re also going to be building a catio and transitioning him to being a house cat. If anyone has any tips around this, your advice would be most welcome?
Thanks for reading - please feel free to share photos of your kitties too! 🫶
She was born without a limb and was found at three weeks old in a warehouse. My mom asked a friend of a friend who runs a rescue randomly if she had any three legged cats. It might have been to cheer me up and help my depression? It was the same day she had picked up Dotty from the warehouse.
She was so small she fit in my palm at three weeks, and she had a sinus infection so she didn’t want to risk getting the other cats sick. I was at work when my mom told me she adopted a cat for me, and at first I was upset because we hadn’t even talked about it and this was sprung on me, and I was financially struggling and here’s this new responsibility. But I came home and like 5 seconds after meeting her I was no longer upset. Now I couldn’t imagine life without her, she’s such a good girl and sometimes I forget she’s even handicapped with how she runs around the house and climbs on everything she can.
I’m so grateful she’s in my life and she’s such a sweetheart, I really lucked out!
She probably, was born with her bent paw, she may become a tripod in the future but for now she lives happily with her bent paw.
Bonus big brother pics as well!

Hi! I recently went to the vet and discovered that my cat has had a non union fracture in his front right leg. My vet recommended amputation but I was completely shocked by that suggestion. 1. My cat has asthma, hip dysplasia and arthritis already at 7 years old. I am very worried that a surgery like that would affect his quality of life or deteriorate his health further. I have asked if euthanasia would be a more appropriate option and they suggested he would be a good candidate. My vet said if they were me they would book the amputation asap. I would prefer to try medication before, but they did not provide me any valid options. The only being NSAIDs but it is not able to be used with my cats asthma steroids. If anyone knows ANY medication that could possibly help, such as SOLENSIA or ANDEQUAN please let me know. I feel so stuck at the moment!
We are adopting a 1-year-old female who had an amputation surgery two months ago. We heard from the shelter that she is very active and confident. So we want to give her lots of options of running and jumping around, high and low, but we also want to ensure her safety too. So we have three questions:
Thanks a lot!
Stopping his brother from stealing his toy 😅. So many people assume tripods can’t do anything but Jimmy shows this isn’t always the case.
