Preparing our home for a front-leg tripod! Questions about safe heights for jumping down etc
We are adopting a 1-year-old female who had an amputation surgery two months ago. We heard from the shelter that she is very active and confident. So we want to give her lots of options of running and jumping around, high and low, but we also want to ensure her safety too. So we have three questions:
- We know jumping down is more difficult for front-leg tripawds, so in your experience what is the maximum safe height for her to jump down? For example, is she able to jump down from bed/chair height without putting too much stress on her joints?
- We want to give her a variety of routes accessing high spaces such as cabinet tops. We are considering installing a vertical ladder on the side of a cabinet. Do you think she will be able to climb up it safely?
- Do you think we should prepare elevated food bowls and water bowls for her to drink in a seated position where her front leg won't be so tired?
Thanks a lot!
