Flying SW for the 1st time since the the "Change", what should I expect?

I did not "upgrade" my seat because it cost $69 each way and it seems excessive for a $300 round-trip flight.

Edit: Thanks for your answers, here what I'd like to know:

  • Will I I provided with a seat after checking in or will I be on standby?
  • If I'm on standby, do I still have a guaranteed seat?
  • Will I forced to gate-check my carry-on?
  • Will I automatically be assigned a middle seat?
  • If there're available seats after the door closes, will I be able to move to an empty seat?

If my question offends you in any way, please feel free to keep scrolling, thanks!

Email Etiquette

I am fairly new to the Service and come from the private sector. I am surprised to see that, whenever I get an internal email, my manager is copied on it.

I am not familiar with this practice and I don't understand its purpose; it is in the IRM?

I understand copying a manager when the recipient is unresponsive, out of the office, or on something critical or time-sensitive but not every single time.

How should I respond? Reply, reply to all, reply to all and copy the sender's manager as well?

Please don't be rude, this is a legitimate question and I'm just trying to understand protocols.

RTO without an RA

My manager is working extra hard to bring me back to the office without providing a reasonable accommodation (RA) for my documented medical condition.

I've reached out to my assigned RAC about it and she's MIA.

What are my options? I'm unable to drive and I have no public transportation option.

Do you know who loves disgruntled government workers?

Foreign enemy regimes... Autocrats know it and keep their staff well paid and cared for. I guess our wannabe dictator didn't get the memo.

To be clear, I have no interest in watching a video thanking me for my service and dedication when your actions indicate the exact opposite.

Here's what I'm asking for:

- Market pay and benefits, including annual inflation adjustments

- Support for my work and the Service's mission

- Reinstatement of NTEU and telework

What else am I missing?
