Galaxy S24+ Review: So that's what a modern flagship's like?

I got my S24+ about 100h ago, new and sealed, 12/256, Snapdragon version. This is my 3rd flahship phone and my 7th phone overall and so far, I got a lot to say about it!

Software:

As this is my 5th Samsung phone, I'm a bit too familiar with OneUi at this point, however, I'm still amazed everytime by the new features. Last time I used a Samsung was one OneUi 8.0 so I discovered 8.5 with this S24+ and I find it very smooth overall and the new animations makes the whole experience more coherent. On top of that I have acces to the whole Good Lock suite of apps that I didn't have acces to on the A54 and I'm amazed by the level of personalisation that you can achieve on a Samsung phone nowadays. Plus, I had zero bugs so far so touch wood that I won't have any.

Hardware:

Well, it is not a brick! I was afraid it would be a brick but it is in fact very nice to hold, even though it's not as nice as my S9, my Note 14 Pro or my Find X5 were, but I'm a sucker for curved phones so I'm not objective. My A54 in comparaison was one huge brick so I'm really happy with it so far, plus it's kinda light for its size. The screen is good. It's not exceptional, but the software features to adapt the colors to the lighting conditions, the high brightness and the LTPO are always nice features to have. I kept it on FHD, I'm waiting to see if I need more pixels before putting it in QHD, but overall, the screen is maybe not as good as I expected but still very decent. The speakers are clean but not as loud or as nice as my Note 14 Pro, that's a bit of a bummer but it's still fine. Mic pickup is excellent however, espcially during calls.

Processor:

Well, considering that at the time the SD888 on my Find X5 felt fast, that the SD7+G3 on my tablet is also fast to me, let me tell you that this is FAST. So far it's on light performance mode, haven't used any benchmark or anything or tried intensive gaming, BUT, that thing is flying fast. Everything is instant. Turning on 4G? Instant. Turning off Wi-Fi? Instant. Closing an app? Instant. Awnsering a call? Instant. Camera use? Instant. I haven't been waiting for anything I asked the phone to do as long as it wasn't dependent on Wi-Fi speeds, which here in my lost French countryside are abyssmal. Plus it doesn't heat much and doesn't seem to use much power overall so I'm very happy with the SD8G3 and it is more then enough for 98% of the population nowadays.

Utilities:

I get a way better reception in many places compared to my A54 or my Note 14 Pro, that's nice. I get Wi-Fi on the last floor of house whereas neither of my two previous phones were getting it, that's nice. Lots of codecs and good sound quality over Bluetooth, that's nice. Pretty fast charging + wireless charging as well, they're nice. The big plus here are the software updates until 02/2031, means I can keep the phone for a while if I need to.

Battery:

It's decent so far if not good. I know it takes about 10 days for the phone to learn your usage so I'll make another post in about two weeks to update this, but so far, 5h to 6h of SoT and 18h of standby per charge while having 25% of juice left in the tank is more then enough for me, espcially with mixed use of Wi-Fi and 4G.

Cameras:

They're really good, but I'll make a special post about them someday.

That's pretty much a good summary of my experience so far! Thanks for reading if you did!

Just bought a S24+, welcome back Samsung

12/256, SD version, new and sealed.
This is gonna be my second flagship phone that I've kept after my S9, I had an Oppo Find X5 at some point for two weeks but I didn't keep it due to poor battery life. Since then I've had an A54 and a Redmi N14Pro 5G. I'm ditching the Redmi due to many software and performance issues, I had about 350€ for budget and it's sales season here in France. It's currently on its way and I'm excited to try a recent Samsung flagship as well as curious whether or not I made the right choice picking this over the OnePlus 13R.

Hope I'm not going to regret this!

How is software experience on the flagships?

Context:

I own a Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G since november and honestly I find that there are a lot of bugs whenever the phone gets a tad stimulated. Doom scrolling and media consumption is fine but whenever camera, heat, low signal or a game is involved, the whole phone gets messy.

So I'm considering reselling it since I got it for free with trade in and it's still worth about 110€. I'm kinda considering buying an older flagship this time instead of a mid ranger and there are a few Xiaomi options in my budget (about 350€) as sales season is coming.

Actual post:

So I'm wondering how the software experience is like on the Xiaomi 15, the 15T Pro and the Poco F8 Pro as they are the Xiaomi options I'm considering. Are there a lot of known lags or issues that should be considered?

The other options in my budget would be the S25, the S24+ (Snapdragon possible), the OnePlus 13R or 13 and the Realme GT7 in case some of the people who have read this far can compare the software on the Ximi flagships to those.

Thanks for reading and thanks for helping me if you do.

7 Months on a Redmi N14P 5g: Mixed Feelings!

I've had the Note 14 Pro 5G since November 2025 and even if at first I was very happy with it, some time has passed and I got some weird issues with it that I'm gonna talk about in this sort of flash review.

Hardware:
During the first week review I made of the phone on another sub, I said that I was really surprised by the build quality, well! The back paint has some nickles despite the good case on it, same with the side frames. I hope that the screen is still intact under the screen protector because there are marks on the protective film, but the screen seems two times sturdier than the rest of the phone. Other then that, phone is still very light, screen is amazing and the fingerprint scanner is pretty fast for an optical one.

Utilities:
When downloading stuff on Wi-Fi, I find the download speeds to be very low, especially compared to my ex A54 or my Pad 7. 4G signal strengh is very good in town, I get signal where some of my friends with high end phones don't, but back home in the countryside there are many places where I have no signal at all while I had some on my A54 with the same data plan.

Cameras:
Can be excellent, really, I got some exceptionally good pictures out of it, but I find the camera to not be THAT reliable, it's only good under some conditions, and the front camera is good 1 times out of 5. Let's not talk about the UW and the macro...
I have one big grippe with the camera app though, it renders my phone unusable for about a minute when I try to close it when I take pictures or take videos. Also from time to time I can't acces the pictures I had just taken from the camera app, I have to close it, wait for the phone to figure itself out then go to gallery. Pretty annoying and not something I had to worry about on my A54.

Battery:
EU battery label says that it lasts for 40 hours under standardised used, guess what, I last about 40 - 45 hours between charges. I'm not a lot on my phone, but standby is good and even screen on consumption is decent. On a heavy use day I'd say I can get 6.5 hours of SoT out of it.

Processor:
Even during my first week I had find it to be slow even though on paper it was supposed to be slightly faster then my A54, and guess what? Phone's a slow mess for anything that is not doom scrolling, web consulting or video consumtion. Even playing a 2D game can kill battery pretty fast and cause lags, long calls cause lags, video calls cause lags and kill the battery at a blazing speed.
So let me tell you that gaming is impossible on the phone. I'm a Genshin/HSR/WuWa player, Genshin is slow af and HSR is unusable on low graphics. I didn't even try WuWa by pure fear of what could happen. And if you were to try and be on a phone call even for five minutes while playing, say goodbye to the phone, it just stops working for a good five minutes. Those are things I could do back on my A54, which had a slower processor, which is why I'm sad at such results.

Hyper O.S 3:
NGL, this is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, I kinda like it a lot, but coming from OneUi 8, yeah, it feels a bit empty. It is way smoother overall though, when it doesn't lag.

----------

Considering I got this for 171€ and sold my A54 for 173€, I don't feel like I got scammed or anything, but I'm pretty dissapointed. This had the potential to be a really great phone but the small utilities details ruins it for me. I might pass it down to a familly member or upgrade in november during Black Friday and use it for trade in bonus, but I'm still deciding on whether or not I'm upgrading it or not. Let me know if some of you fellow users got similar issues to mines with the phone.
