‘Self-healing’ coach who was banned from working in Australia to speak in UK & IRELAND| Health | The Guardian

A controversial proponent of natural remedies who has been banned from providing any health services in Australia is due to embark on a series of events in the UK and Ireland despite criticism from scientists, health charities and academic bodies.

Barbara O’Neill, who describes herself as a naturopath and nutritionist, lectures internationally on “natural self-healing”.

She has previously claimed that cancer is a fungus that can be treated with bicarbonate soda, that vaccines have caused an epidemic of conditions including autism and cot death, and that pregnant women with Strep B do not have to take antibiotics.

Now experts in the UK have raised concerns in a letter to venues across UK and Ireland where O’Neill, 73, is scheduled to speak.

“Medical misinformation kills, and we wrote the letter because we have seen first-hand the profound and tragic harms that health fictions inflict on vulnerable patients … We hope making people aware of this reality mitigates her ability to inflict harm elsewhere,” he said.

Another multi-day event featuring Barbara O’Neill, run by the Christian health and wellness group Balm of Gilead, is scheduled for mid-October at the City North hotel and conference centre in Gormanston, Ireland.

Over 960 Women On Waiting List For Endometriosis Care In Ireland

Figures from the HSE show over 960 women are on waiting lists for endometriosis care across five established specialist endometriosis services across the country.

Currently 965 women are on waiting lists, with 135 waiting over a year, figures released to Breakingnews through the Freedom of Information Act 2014 show.

This is a drop from the 1,045 women on waiting lists at the end of 2025.

However, the HSE says it is s not currently possible to determine with absolute accuracy the number of women awaiting endometriosis care across acute gynaecology services nationally.

The Cycle of Chronic Illness

"People want my life with premenstrual dysphoric disorder to be told as a neat arc. But chronic illnesses are more like messy, looping spirals – and realising that gave me hope."

Emma Hardy has released a memoir, "Periodic Bitch" about her PMDD, I've shared The Guardian link below. I'm sharing because in the past week I was really experiencing shame about my PMDD. Thinking to myself, why can't I just get better? When will I be ok? I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired!

I also have endo, adeno and adhd, and although I've taken huge steps with treatment in the past couple of years I felt like I'd come right back to the beginning. I was frustrated with myself and with life. I was resisting and trying to deny my reality, almost coming right back to self blame again.

"I want to write myself a world in which illness narratives don’t have to be neat or digestible, but can be messy and real. The neat moral lessons of the hero’s journey do not help me when my body will not re-enact that story. A neat ending does not help me live my messy middle. I wanted to allow room for patterns, repetitions, for looping back to the same moment, only with new understanding. I find hope in a spiral. I am still here. The story continues. There is meaning, perhaps even pleasure, in that."

This paragraph really resonated with me, "looping back to the same moment, only with new understanding." I feel like this is exactly where I am now. Not still at the beginning, or at the beginning again. The shame lifted and acceptance and non-resistance set in. I'm hoping this helps some other ladies here today ❤️
