Acer Nitro throttling down to 1.7 GHz (THERMAL flag in ThrottleStop) despite premium repaste and solid mounting. Need help!
Hey guys,I'm facing a really frustrating issue with my Acer Nitro laptop. During gaming, my CPU frequency immediately drops and gets locked at 1.7 GHz. ThrottleStop shows a solid red THERMAL flag, but the laptop shouldn't be overheating based on what I've done. Here is what I've already done to fix it:Completely cleaned the cooling system.Applied premium Honeywell PTM7950 phase change pad on the CPU/GPU.Used Laird Tputty 607 liquid thermal putty on the VRM and VRAM.Tightened all heatsink screws perfectly in the correct order .The weirdest part:The heatsink is mounted so tightly that it feels glued to the board (due to the vacuum effect from the Laird putty and Honeywell pad), so there is 100% no air gap between the die and the copper. Yet, the system instantly triggers a Thermal limit the moment a game loads.Could this be a glitching EC controller/sensor, a bugged VRM sensor, or some weird Acer power delivery issue? Has anyone dealt with this "stuck at 1.7 GHz" thermal bug on Acer laptops?Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks, bros!
