I’m seriously frustrated with how private sector employees are treated in Nepal

Government offices and schools get 2-day weekends, public holidays, better job security, pensions, and fixed working hours. But what about the people working in private companies? We are also citizens of this country.

Many private employees work 6 days a week, often 10+ hours a day, with no overtime, no proper leave, and salary deductions even for being 1 minute late. Some companies don’t even follow the minimum salary rules set by the government. After probation periods, instead of improving conditions, companies start cutting salaries and increasing pressure.

And honestly, nobody seems to care.

I’m not against LGBTQI+ rights at all. Everyone deserves equal rights and respect. Nepal getting praise for social progress is fine. But shouldn’t the government also focus on basic labor rights and human dignity for workers? What about fair pay, proper holidays, humane working conditions, and protection from exploitation?

Only a small percentage of people work in government jobs. The majority of Nepalis work in the private sector. Why does it feel like our problems are ignored completely?

And before people misunderstand me — yes, some IT companies and international workplaces in Nepal are actually good. They provide proper weekends, decent salaries, growth opportunities, and respect employees.

I’m talking about those typical exploitative Nepali private companies where owners treat employees like machines. Some of these bosses barely respect Nepali workers or even understand the struggles of ordinary employees, yet they control people’s livelihoods with zero accountability.

Employees are scared to speak up because jobs are limited and everyone fears being replaced instantly. Labor laws exist mostly on paper, but enforcement feels nonexistent.

Is the government silent because private businesses bring tax revenue? Why is labor law enforcement so weak? Why are employees expected to just “accept” exploitation as normal?

I voted for RSP because I hoped things would change, especially accountability and corruption. But right now, private sector employees still feel invisible in this country.

Anyone else feeling the same?

I don’t really know how to say this but I’ve been feeling extremely lonely lately.

I went through a breakup about two months ago, and while I am trying to move on, the emptiness is still there. My life right now feels like a loop I go to work, come home, repeat. No close friends no one to really talk to, nothing to look forward to. It’s starting to feel suffocating.

I thought time would make things better, and maybe it has a little but the loneliness hasn’t gone away. If anything, it feels heavier now that everything’s quiet again.

I don’t even know what I’m expecting from posting this… maybe just to know I’m not the only one who’s felt like this?
