Do the Math

I think the concept of this game is a little too confusing for many contestants and as many times as I've seen it, I sometimes have to stop myself and say "wait, what are they asking?"

Today, a rerun i think, the two trips were Italy and Samoa and +/- a thousand some odd dollars. Of course the trip to Italy is always going to be more expensive. It should be as free of a win as Cliffhangers. But the contestant said + without seeming to give it much thought. It seemed like an absolute guess. I think if they would have just asked her which is more expensive, Italy or Samoa she probably would have gotten it right. But instead she missed out on $30k worth of travel because of this sort of confusing game.

I'm not using this as an excuse for this person. Even if you had never seen the show and stop for a ten seconds to think this out you could probably figure it out and many people perfectly understand it, but I do think it is slightly confusing.

What do you think a fair price for a 98" QM8K from marketplace could be

I have been talking to someone on marketplace about buying their TCL 98" QM8K. In order to get it I would need to rent a cargo van and drive about 40 minutes each way to get it and purchase a new stand because I do not want to mount it to the wall. They have it listed at $2300 and asked if I would consider 2100. I think I could get a much better deal considering they're in a fairly remote location and it's a bulky item to move and if they really want it gone and I'm the only one willing to take it, I think I could really get the price down. I'm not married to this specific TV but if i can grab a great deal on it, it would be worth the effort.

What do you think would be a good price for me to take this at? I would think a van and the cheapest big stand alone might run me $300-400. Thanks for any feedback.

There's one thing Drew does that I don't like

I don't really care about who the host of this show, I would watch with anyone just because I like the games. I think Drew is fine, but there's one sort of small thing he does I think is weird. If you don't and you think I'm weird for even pointing this out, thats fine, flame away.

In games where the contestant has one final guess on a prize, say it's money game and the contestant has got the first 2 numbers of the car correct and has picked 3 incorrect prices trying to get the last 2 numbers of the car. So the next pick will result in the end of the game either winning the car or winning the small amount of money. When the contestant picks the number, Drew will wish them good luck and then shake their hand. I find this handshake moderately awkward and not necessary. This happens on Any Number where the contestant has filled in all but 1 number on the car, the small prize and the piggy bank so the next pick will result in the end of the game no matter what. And also many other games. But it never happens on the many of the "Price is either X or Y" games because there's only one decision to make.

I think its fine to greet the conestant coming up to play the game with a handshake or an embrace, really he's fine at matching whatever energy the person coming up to play is bringing and then again at the end of the game no matter the result. But I just find it awkward during the game.

And well if you think I'm weird for even noticing and pointing this out, that's fine!

Why are the top showcase contestants passing on cars when offered a showcase with one?

I've seen it I think 3 times this week (even though there was one second showcase with a car/suv this week) and it just happens more than it should to me. A car is the most practical thing you can win on the show besides cash which can't be given away during the showcase as the main prize for obvious reasons. The other "big" prizes you can win besides cars are a trip or multiple trips and boats.

Trips are great and all but you have to go where they say and what if you didn't want to go to Belgium and your dream vacation was always to go to Japan or something? If you won a car and didn't need it you could sell it and plan your own trip. And you could probably cut out many luxuries that you don't necessarily care about that the people at the show are putting in and save money. And a boat? Well if you could use it great, but I couldn't and I'm sure there are way more people who could use a car than a boat.

Another reason why you shouldn't pass a car showcase is that they're much easier to price. The standard cheapish cars they give away all the time are fairly easy to price within $1000. Add the secondary prize of say a new bedroom set for few thousand and it's pretty easy to dial the total showcase total. With a boat who knows. is that a 23,000 or a 40k boat? i don't know. neither do most people. Same with trips. A trip to Nashville is going to be less expensive than a Safari in South Africa, but on average you're not getting closer with trips than you are on a car.

I get it that everyone is going to think differently than others. Some may want trips over a car. If you think about it that you're on a gameshow and you're winning extra luxuries in your life like a few crazy trips thats great. A Kia Soul isn't exactly the sexiest ride ever but its going to be able to get you to work and transport groceries.

I would say that if you asked people who passed on cars after the fact would you rather have gotten the 2nd showcase that you got, or the one with the first one with the car, they would probably say the car one most of the time.

The card game was played so poorly today 6/1/26

I feel like he was under pressure from the audience to stop just because he had been drawing so many low cards and it "felt" that he had to stop because he had picked maybe 8-9 cards. but that doesn't matter. the only thing that matters is the price showing and for a corolla being at around 20k (forget exactly where he stopped) was just obviously too low. I think if he had just drawn the ace as his first card he would have been able to get it within 2000 but the mounting pressure of having drawn "too many" cards got to him and he wasn't thinking clearly and you could everyone in the audience motioning and yelling to stop.

i could be wrong about this of course this is just speculation and he would have just set the price he ended up on if he did get the ace on the first card. and you cant know for sure what was going on in his head unless you asked him but that seems to be what happened.
