Killbean killing it again

I am just enjoying my first cup of the washed / honey Brazilian cup of excellence winner.
I think this is the highest scoring beans I have ever bought.
I have done a Tetsu 4:6 straight down the middle to see what I have.
The aroma of the brewed cup is incredible with fudgy fruit. Then it’s super complex to taste starts brown sugar but then goes almost citrus. I will be dialling in more to go sweeter and with a cleaner body.
Just superb as you would expect. Every bag from Killbean is a delight 🥰

Anything catching your eye?

Hi everyone, I have been pretty quiet atm due to buying loads of amazing beans for months and realising that I do actually need to drink them all! 😅
So while enjoying some stunning cups ( killbean Yunnan orange blossom ) I haven’t been as active searching and dreaming.
Is there anything on the UK scene that has caught your eye? Anything that is getting you super excited?
I like the look of the radiant baby from UKKEI as the spring bouquet was very good and all the blends at catalyst. 👌

Cup of the moment

Hi all, hope your all having a lovely start to the weekend. I’m sat in the sunshine in the garden savouring my first cup of the ratdog natural la esmerelda geisha!
Brewed it 1:16 using Tetsu’s 4:6 method.
I went bright and clean through a Hario Neo using killbean lyocell papers.
A natural that is so classy it is as clean as a washed cup. So juicy like a Kenyan on the back end especially as it cools. A very classy cup.

What is your cup of the moment please? Do you have any nice beans on the go? Please share what your enjoying :)))

Drinking anything lovely?

Hi all, have you been drinking any lovely beans recently? I’m in a phase where I have tons of beans and have had time to enjoy them. Standouts are the washed Ugandan Glasgow coffee festival competition lot from CHIPP. I was very lucky to secure the last bag of the washed Bolivian spring bouquet from UKKEI. It is so clean and complex I feel I could drink and explore it forever! Just beautiful and right what I am in to atm. Please share your favourite cups your drinking :)))

Jollybean madness! AMA, giveaway and discount codes 🙌🤘🤘🤘🤘

Hi everyone, I hope your all well and enjoying some cooled weather.
Joel at jollybean has a lovely unique roasting style for speciality coffee I believe. He roasts beans that he wants to ( and does ) drink. These are mega sweet and juicy coferments in a more medium roast!
The first time I ordered I was very suprised at the roast level and then I brewed them and was blown away!
Great news is that Joel is going to join us far an AMA on Friday 10th July. 7:30 - 9:00 pm. I am really grateful as Joel has been mega busy with London coffee festival and then a large order for Dog and Hat subscriptions.
So if you would like to chat anything coffee Inc coferments in any form, I know it is such an emotive subject then this is a great chance to ask a roaster directly.
We have also been given two discount codes. These last as long as the stock does or until the end of July.
I will set up another post for the giveaway!

IHEARTARTIFICIALCOFFEE - 15% off apple coferment
REDDITLOVESCHIROSO - 10% off Sebastian Gomez Chiroso

Hi all, a little reminder that we have Shufan kindly joining us for an AMA tonight at 7pm.

I hope to chat with you all tonight :))))

CHIPP thunder juice is a banger!

Really enjoying this Indonesian natural from CHIPP.
Just checked and it is not available anymore I’m afraid. I think it was very reasonably priced around £15. Super tropical juicy. It was Indonesian week at Drip in Holmfirth and it was when compared to four others that I really started to appreciate this more. 👌

Happy Father’s Day and a happy day to everyone 🥰

After Liverpool I must have been going on about Ratdog loads as my wife kindly surprised me with an order for Father’s day!
These are easily the highest class beans I have ever had and they will be ready to brew in a couple weeks with a roast date of 05.06.26.
Awesome too that we get an individual recipe! Very handy especially with an exceptional bean.
I hope everyone has a lovely day in the sunshine with a great cup of coffee:))))))

Ratdog AMA and discount code! 🤘🤘🤘

Hi all, at the Liverpool Coffee Festival I had the pleasure of meeting Jon Townsend who was brewing some Module beans for a water company. Jon also had another brew of a Janson Giesha! roasted by Ratdog speciality coffee roaster. Needless to say it was incredible. I then learn that the roaster is based in Sheffield and placed 3rd in this years brewers cup with this very lot! Not only that but for this competition lot they are roasting in miniscule 80-85 gram batches to achieve the best results possible! My interest is building at this point. Once home I research to find out that the founder Shufan is a doctor in chemistry and has an incredible line of beans available. I am not too far from Sheffield and Ratdog has flown totally under my radar. Now I am truly excited so I had to email Shufan and hopefully learn more about their roasting.
Shufan has kindly agreed to do an AMA next Friday 26th at 7pm.
They have also created a community exclusive discount code until Friday July 3rd of 10% off orders over £20 plus free shipping on orders over £25. The code is UKROASTERS10 at the checkout.
Please feel free to leave any questions now and I will ask them in the night in your behalf.

Washed Mejorado by Module

This week I have opened the Juan Pena Equadorian washed Typica Mejorado roasted by Module. When Paul sent a box for us to do a giveaway I also bought a box to try myself. It has taken four cups to dial in but I have settled for the Hario Neo using killbean lyocell papers for a fast drawdown. A Bloom and single pour has given me an outstanding cup. The aroma when dry and brewed is stunning. I love that this washed offering is not a subtle elusive cup where I am trying get a hint of white blossom. It is full of flavour and gives a full mouthfeel. Now dialled in it is sweet and delicious. I get caramel, brown sugar that develops into much more. Once again Module show why they are in my opinion one of the best roasters in the UK. 🙌

Cup of the year so far?

Hi all, as we are in June I thought it might be fun to see what everyone considers to be their favourite bag of beans so far in 2026. This could be super frustrating as most beans won’t be available anymore but it will also be super interesting to see what everyone is enjoying.
For me it has been the crystal grape from Killbean. I enjoyed every cup. Refined, moreish and very delicious 👌

Liverpool coffee festival 2026

Just back from the Liverpool coffee festival. It was a great event with a lovely atmosphere. Highlights were meeting Omar and team from Saints of Mokha. I’m hoping that we can invite Omar on soon to chat with us. I have been wanting to try their beans for ages! Also meeting Jon Townsend from the institute of coffee who was guest brewing some Columbian Geisha from Module and a Panamanian Jansen geisha from Ratdog specialty coffee. A great time, I would highly recommend for next year 🤘🤘🤘
