Just received my delivery from Shufan at Ratdog.
Now based in London after making the move down from Sheffield. The Gesha village I had to order as soon as I saw Shufan had secured a lot. I am seeing a few UK roasters with different lots of the Gesha village’s rarities tier. The cattura is my first advanced process from Shufan so I will be very interested to see how this lot from Wilton Benitez’s farm is.
Roll on the weeks so I can get stuck in 👌

I noticed that we recently have had a lot of questions, posts and interest in decaffeinated beans. This made me think it would be cool to try and arrange an AMA with a roaster with a passion for decaf.

I was introduced to Raw Matter by Scott at Drip recently as one to keep an eye on.
I’m always on the look out for beans that capture my attention and interest and these both did exactly that. A non Kenyan honey process SL28 will always interest me. The Tabi is only the second time I have seen the variety. I thoroughly enjoyed a juicy washed Tabi in the past so I was keen to try this natural.
A new to me roaster and another great addition to the Manchester scene :)))

I’m wondering what everyone’s been buying recently! There is so many interesting beans out there!
I popped in to my favourite place Drip in Holmfirth and caught up with the owner Scott.
I tried a washed flower infusion from Sheep Mai Mai in Leeds. Very nice and not as wild as I thought it might be as the process is very vague! I then went for the crowd pleaser, the bubblegum from RAW in Leeds. I have been yearning for this profile and flavour for a while as I’m on a washed kick at home.
It was just as good as I remembered and I can see why it keeps selling out!
I left with a fully rested washed Ethiopian from killbean, 80g of the Sdison Srgote SL28 from Atkinson in Lancaster. A cheeky 20g of bubblegum to brew at home and a bag of high quality Cascara to play with. :)))

Hi all, I hope everyone is well and enjoying a nice cup at the weekend. What is everyone’s latest deliveries? Anything nice arrived?
These are my latest beans to arrive. The Spaceboy Kenyan due to our great thread on how blackcurrant forward they are and the honey Pacamara as this is my favourite process and variety combo. I’m expecting a brown sugar bomb.
I then see that Joel’s next recession proof banger is …….. a black honey Pacamara. I immediately bought 500grams for £16! No brained and will be a daily driver on my way to work in October. 🤘

I am just enjoying my first cup of the washed / honey Brazilian cup of excellence winner.
I think this is the highest scoring beans I have ever bought.
I have done a Tetsu 4:6 straight down the middle to see what I have.
The aroma of the brewed cup is incredible with fudgy fruit. Then it’s super complex to taste starts brown sugar but then goes almost citrus. I will be dialling in more to go sweeter and with a cleaner body.
Just superb as you would expect. Every bag from Killbean is a delight 🥰

Hi everyone, I have been pretty quiet atm due to buying loads of amazing beans for months and realising that I do actually need to drink them all! 😅
So while enjoying some stunning cups ( killbean Yunnan orange blossom ) I haven’t been as active searching and dreaming.
Is there anything on the UK scene that has caught your eye? Anything that is getting you super excited?
I like the look of the radiant baby from UKKEI as the spring bouquet was very good and all the blends at catalyst. 👌

Hi all, hope your all having a lovely start to the weekend. I’m sat in the sunshine in the garden savouring my first cup of the ratdog natural la esmerelda geisha!
Brewed it 1:16 using Tetsu’s 4:6 method.
I went bright and clean through a Hario Neo using killbean lyocell papers.
A natural that is so classy it is as clean as a washed cup. So juicy like a Kenyan on the back end especially as it cools. A very classy cup.

What is your cup of the moment please? Do you have any nice beans on the go? Please share what your enjoying :)))

Hi all, have you been drinking any lovely beans recently? I’m in a phase where I have tons of beans and have had time to enjoy them. Standouts are the washed Ugandan Glasgow coffee festival competition lot from CHIPP. I was very lucky to secure the last bag of the washed Bolivian spring bouquet from UKKEI. It is so clean and complex I feel I could drink and explore it forever! Just beautiful and right what I am in to atm. Please share your favourite cups your drinking :)))

Hi everyone, I hope your all well and enjoying some cooled weather.
Joel at jollybean has a lovely unique roasting style for speciality coffee I believe. He roasts beans that he wants to ( and does ) drink. These are mega sweet and juicy coferments in a more medium roast!
The first time I ordered I was very suprised at the roast level and then I brewed them and was blown away!
Great news is that Joel is going to join us far an AMA on Friday 10th July. 7:30 - 9:00 pm. I am really grateful as Joel has been mega busy with London coffee festival and then a large order for Dog and Hat subscriptions.
