Finding a doctor for a new born

Hi everyone! I’m a soon-to-be first-time and I finally made a decision where to give birth. But now, I am going crazy with figuring out the post-birth care. As far as I understand the baby will need to be checked on 2nd or 3rd day after birth and, in general, I would like to have a medical professional to fall back to for support as a first-time mom without much of a support system. Do you have any recommendations for thorough and competent family doctors/pediatricians in Downtown Toronto (close to St Lawrence Market)?

We’re new to the city and Canada in general, and so far our experience with doctors wasn’t very positive. I signed up for the first available family doctor, but I am super not happy with them - they refused the requisition for an important scan, that I was only able to get done once in OB care. We tried the walk-in, but they failed to notify me that the scan I did was incomplete. I only saw it when i requested the copy of the report. My husband did a blood test with his GP, and they first refused to give us the results via email/phone (we just needed to know the blood type) and then it turned out they don’t have the results and he needs to give blood again. So I definitely don’t want to take a newborn baby to any of our existing doctors but I’m at loss as to how to find a good professional and starting to go crazy about it. Any help and recommendations are highly appreciated 🙏

FTM new to Canada choosing between OB and Midwife for delivery

Hi all! I moved to Canada in May and am 27 weeks pregnant. As soon as I landed, we started looking for a healthcare provider to oversee my pregnancy. We were lucky enough to be contacted by both an OB from Mount Sinai Hospital (via the family doctor referral) and a midwife, but I have a hard time making the final decision.

Since my pregnancy is low risk and I prefer an unmedicated natural birth, I was originally going to go with the midwife. But I really liked the OB! She noted that my anatomy scan was incomplete and arranged for me to have it redone, and, for the first time since the move, I felt like I was fully taken care of. Also, Mount Sinai is much closer to where we live than the hospital I'd be giving birth at with the midwife. It's a difference between a 10 and 40-minute drive.

I am only concerned that if I choose to give birth with the OB, I will be encouraged to do a C-section or take an epidural if my labor doesn't progress very quickly. I guess, in short, my question is: can I have a natural birth in Mount Sinai, or should I rather go with the midwife?

I don't know many people here and would very much appreciate any support, personal experience, or recommendations. Thank you!
