FYI for those of us that have sleep apnea: your BiPAP can absorb smells
We stayed at my brother in law’s apartment for the weekend. The hallway outside smelled really bad (like a combination of a vet’s office and cigarettes) but his apartment was clean and smelled fine. I kept getting whiffs of what I thought was a neighbor somewhere smoking pot at night, but figured it was because we had the balcony door cracked (AC is uncommon in the area)….
Well, we get home late today, and after unpacking and cleaning up I settle into bed—so relieved to sleep in my own bed again after sleeping terribly for 3 nights—and put my BiPAP mask on, and what do I smell? All of the above. I guess this explains the asthma flare that I’ve been in.
I’ve changed the filter—it reeked—and washed the mask, but it still smells. I think it’s in the tube and machine. I’ve had it turned on, airing out, for the past half hour and it’s slowly getting better. Maybe eventually I’ll be able to sleep…. I’ll order a new tube in the morning 😮💨
