Age of the Titan has had about 500 readers since April!

Age of the Titan is a sci-fi story I've been building for the last few years. A thousand years from now, humanity is on the run from alien clans bent on destroying our species. The main antagonist is the Vogrom clan, whose religion teaches that all beings who reject the truth must be eliminated.

Readers have been reaching out more and more. Just today, a reader from France called me his "favorite author right now."

Right now, I'm about 85,000 words into the sequel and roughly two-thirds of the way through the audiobook with the narrator. My cover artist is also drawing a propaganda poster for the Valor Guard Corps, humanity's main military in the novel. I'm excited to share it on a future Saturday 😄

Since then, I've been expanding the universe through clothing designs, like the hoodie in the photo. It shows my main alien character, Kaelith Sothrak, pulling the void thread down from the heavens. This is his Promethean punishment, he must work or die…

Here's the link to my novel in case you'd like to read the first few chapters for free!

In a maze of books, I struck gold!

I navigated the labyrinth of Green Apple Books on Clement, up the stairs, lost in a maze of rooms, until I finally made my way to the very back and stumbled on the sci-fi section. There, squeezed onto the top shelf in the A's, was a single copy of Age of the Titan.

I grew up in San Francisco and survived middle school at Aptos. Green Apple is the second bookstore to carry my novel. Happy hunting for this SF secret in this cool store!

My novel flew off the shelves of BookShop West Portal!

Thank you SF!! Hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful day today. I just got a text from the bookstore owner that all the copies sold out and that some locals were asking for Age of the Titan. I just dropped off four signed copies 😄

Life takes you on some pretty amazing adventures. I never imagined that my life would go from playing goalie for Aptos and getting covered in mud at the Polo fields to writing a story that would be read by my neighbors. Thank you to everyone who visited the bookshop and I am very proud to be a part of SF’s wonderful community.

Local coffee and sci-fi!

Mission Blue cafe is promoting my novel along with a lot of local artists’ work everyday. They are located right next to the SF Crosstown Trail in Visitacion Valley and they make delicious coffee!

I grew up in San Francisco and went to Miraloma elementary and Aptos middle school. It’s been my dream to get my sci-fi story into local shops and bookstores and the amount of support from SF has been very encouraging.

All of the copies are signed and I just restocked the store today! There’s a couple hardcovers and some paperbacks. I’m happy to chat in the comments.

The book blurb:

THE VOGROM ARE COMING.
The fanatical alien clan has unleashed its armada on a galaxy already torn apart by conflict, and humanity has nothing left to throw at them.
Two warriors stand in the wreckage on opposite sides of the war. Kaelith Sothrak claws his way out of a death camp, driven by hatred and unrelenting faith.
Louis Wolffe has drifted through space for two years, carrying a secret that could save his people, or destroy them.
They don't know it yet, but both warriors are seeking the same thing.
Something ancient, something powerful, something hidden inside a dead boy's soul.
LET THE WAR COME.

After posting about getting my indie book into BookShop West Portal, the radio called!

I am very grateful to KCBS radio and the community for the support. For anyone who wants to listen to it I have it linked on my profile!

I had an author interview with a local radio station!

I had a great interview with reporter Megan Goldsby with KCBS radio. We talked about what it’s like to publish a book in this day and age. The story will air tomorrow (August 4th) on KCBS. I’m very grateful to have had this opportunity to talk about my novel “Age of the Titan,” storytelling, and BookShop West Portal.

(P.S. if I don’t respond to your comment it’s probably because in the New Author subreddit you have to agree to the rules of the subreddit. Please head over to the subreddit rules and accept so we can talk😄👍)

The rough draft of my sequel cover

It’s going to be titled “Age of the Sovereign.” I wanted to share the draft before it’s complete.

Audiobooks are hard, I mean really hard

Audiobooks are deceivingly difficult to produce.
So let's start with the bad news. There was an initial audiobook project that I had to jump ship from. Unfortunately I spent multiple months and hundreds of hours working on this project for it to amount to nothing. The first narrator did not have a strong grasp on the English language.

I recommend giving yourself a long period of time to produce one. Apparently 10-30% of indie audiobook projects never make it to completion.

The good news is that I started over the audiobook from scratch with brand new voice actors and a new narrator. Finally, the Age of the Titan audiobook is making steady progress. I wanted to share with you all some of the voice actor's comments thus far.

Victoria (Female roles):
"I particularly liked Major Sierra and Mara Slin. :)
Though Tempus was very fun, too. (I guess to be honest now that I'm typing this I also really liked recording Bellona as well, so that probably makes all of them, ha!)"

Rick (Sergeant Wolffe Voice and others):
"Jeez, dude. I get some audiobook or character requests, but I wasn't expecting this to be THIS good.
Well done. Please share a link where I can follow the progress and get the physical book."
"Awesome to work with great art and an exceptional writer to boot."

While I’m working on the audiobook, I am also writing the sequel which will be titled "Age of the Sovereign." The cover artist for the first book is already drawing the sequel cover and I'll be revealing it here in the New Author subreddit first.

With gratitude and Tertullia above all,

Age of the Titan (Aidan Alberts)

P.S. I’ve got an email sign up on my profile’s linktree if you would like to receive the audiobook announcement / sequel announcement:

Another book signing!

I was lucky enough yesterday to get to talk about Age of the Titan with friends and readers. There was out loud passage reading, book signing, and a great time. Reminds me of the quote by Victor Frankl, I am happy and therefore success has happened.

My KENP since April

It’s been a long journey but kindle unlimited has proven to be a success. 😄👍

My sci-fi novel’s two main characters

My cover artist drew both of these cutouts. They work great at book signings as they are a nice conversation starter. Occasionally they both turn into makeshift sails and try to attack me while I’m in the middle of a conversation.
Supreme Commander Kaelith Sothrak on the left. Sergeant Louis Wolffe on the right.

Successful book signing!

I recently went to a local cafe and sold 13 books at a signing. Will be returning to this cafe sometime this fall. This brings my total sales to a little over 250 people

I published my novel in early April!

Every day I’ve been working to get my book into the hands of sci-fi readers. It’s been my lifelong dream to become an author and find readership.
