The true "heir" of Vlad the mpaler

The true "heir" of Vlad the mpaler

I've seen many claims about people being the "heirs" of Vlad, but they're all shaky, as they're very distantly related to him. So I did some diging to who should be Vlad's true heir. Obviously, because of the lack of documents and information, this may not be 100% accurate, but it's interesting to see other descendants of Vlad aswel. For this, I've mostly used the Famille Ghika Website. To find the "heir" I went with the oldest male in the family and if there weren't any men, then women. This is what I ended up with. Vlad's descendants and true "heirs" may be very likely living in Türkiye, as his great-great grandson, Mihnea, moved to the Ottoman Empire and had a harem, where he fathered 4 children. Those 4 children could also produce children, but there aren't any sources to suggest that. So I went to another branch of the family. I originaly thought of adding Maria, sister of Alexandru II and wife of Michael Cantacuzino, but I chose not to, as the only thing to suggest a link between one of Alexandru's sister and Cantacuzino is a 1570s document, which calls Cantacuzino a brother in law to Peter the Lame of Moldavia and Milosh, brothers of Alexandru. No children are mentioned with this wife though. So, since I didn't want to go on speculations and create more confusion, I decided to go with Radu's line. There wasn't that much trouble, until I got to Neculai Rosetti (1794-1858), as his male line descendants are likely dead and I couldn't find any living descendants of his daughters. So I went to his brother, Alecu. According to it, the true "heir" of Vlad is Serban Budu, son of Mona Budu-Ghyka and Florian Budu, coincidentally the founders of the "famille Ghika website". If you have any information, if Neculai Rosetti (1794-1858) has any living descendants, or if you yourself are one, then you can correct me in the comments.

Andronescu family tree

The Andronescu's began as a boyar (noble) family during the Phanariote period. The oldest member I could find was Șerban Andronescu, who died in 1799. He is the father of Grigore (1778-1851) and supposedly also the father of Nicolae Andronescu (d.1849) and a father or a relative of Constantin Andronescu (1778-?). From these, only Nicolae has a known son. Constantin also mentions his children, but they're not named. Dimitrie became a postelnic, an equivalent of the english chamberlain. He died much earlier than his father in 1826. He got 3 sons, from whom only Niță seems to have had a political career. He was a pitar, somebody who supplied bread to the princely court and participated in the 1848 revolution. He got multiple children, including Smaranda (known as Mother Smara), a writer, early feminist and the first woman to arrive at the North Pole in 1902-04. Her brother was Constantin Andronescu, a professor, whos son merged his last name with his mother's resulting in the name "Andronescu-Ghika". Smaranda's other brother, Gheorghe married his first cousin once removed, Elena, daughter of the lawyer Theodor Andronescu, the grandson of Dimitrie. The couple had two daughters, Florica, a professor and Martha, an archivist. Elena also got multiple siblings such as Eugeniu, dr. in medicine (it seems like this family was one of medics by the 20th century, since both Gheorghe's brother, Dumitru and his great nephew became medics aswell) or Leon, an officer. Elena's niece was Madelaine (Magdalena) an actress and poet. I couldn't find any links between them and politician Ecaterina Andronescu or her husband Laurențiu Andronescu.

10 May, the royalty day or the king's day

On 10th May 1866, Carol arrived in Bucharest and was proclaimed prince of Romania. 11 years later, on the same day, Romania won it's independence from the Ottoman empire. This day was Romania's National day until 1947.
