providing tutoring at low rates

Hello, I am currently providing virtual tutoring (using Zoom or Google Meets) for the following subjects:

Grade 9-12 English, French

Grade 9,10 Science

Grade 9 Math

Grade 11,12 Biology

High School Psychology

High School Law

I know final exam season is soon for high school students and I hope to help students with preparing for exams and filling any gaps they may have in knowledge. I was a high honors (90+) student in high school across all my 4 years and am hoping to help any students interested.

we need a grace period for the changes to the stats requirement of psych

For those who are currently enrolled in the specialist program of psych or mental health studies. FYI if you took stab23/stab22 instead of psyb07, you WILL NOW NEED 2 MORE 0.5 CREDITS TO FINISH the stats requirements (PSYB06 and PSYC06). That's right. See the flowchart that was sent out. This is completely unfair because many of us are about to graduate, and this new change should not be imposed on 3rd or 4th years or 4+ years. I urge you to write an email to the department voicing your frustrations, and also speak out if you may not be enrolled in the psych program but also find this change unfair to support your friends/peers. We need a grace period or they need to waive the requirement of psyb06 for us that are currently enrolled in these programs for a while because once upon a time they told us its okay to take stab23/stab22 instead of psyb07, IF there was scheduling issues/PSYB07 was full. it was actually encouraged to continue taking c-levels.

If you are PSYCH or Mental Health Studies Specialist and Took STAB22/STAB23

If you were like me a specialist student and took STAB22/STAB23 and are being negatively impacted by the changes to the statistics requirements, please send an email out to the psych department with your concerns. 95% sure they won't care at all, but 5% tells me if there are enough emails and they really care about their students, something will be done. In my original post, I saw comments about people having to extend their graduation date or needing to take another semester which is absolutely not fair and this decision was taken by individuals who did not think carefully of what it is like to be a student of low SES.

I urge everyone to email about these changes because they are absolutely ridiculous to me. It is totally fine if these changes are for people entering the psych or mhs specialist, but for people years into the program? What are you doing? This was terribly planned by the department.

EDIT: BEFORE ANYONE SAYS IT AFFECTS PPL COMING INTO THE DEGREE- CHECK THIS FLOWCHART (LINK BELOW AND TELL ME HOW UNFAIR IT IS)

Extreme Disappointment with the Psych Department

I think it's just wrong that the PSYCH department is making these statistic changes and messing up the graduation plans for students who took STAB23/STAB22 as an EXCLUSION to PSYB07. Mind you when PSYB07 was FULL or did not match with an individual's schedule, we were allowed to take STAB23/STAB22 as the EXCLUSION to satisfy the PSYB07 requirement. When we took STAB23/STAB22, NO ONE warned us about these changes or future implications.

Before anyone comes at me and says "Oh these changes won't affect you! You follow the year you enrolled into the program and its calendar" NO! If you took STAB22 or STAB23, you are now taking two whole courses now which are PSYB06 and PSYC06 (doesn't matter when you enrolled, see the flowchart).

This is super disappointing. Many students will now have a hard time affording the price of a new course with the OSAP cuts and an additional course may also be a burden for some international students, as well. Don't come telling me the University has many financial supports available, you will be fine. Sure they do, but the UTAPS program is a hit or miss, scholarships are scarce (in my years as a high GPA student I didn't get nothing after 2nd year- only the entrance scholarship), and there is a service charge fee if you don't pay up ASAP. Whoever was involved in making these changes most likely did not consider the financial implications on students from low SES and the stress surrounding being a student of low SES.

Also, can we talk about how this can potentially mess up graduation plans for many students? There may be course conflicts (cough cough PSYB30 and PSYC08 were conflicts last semester as they removed one of the lecture sections for who knows what reason) and behold you are extending your graduation date, and this change may also prevent individuals who are applying to competitive professional schools which state you must complete your degree in 4-5 years.

I would also like to add that I know a ton of people who have been successful in PSYC08, after taking STAB22 or STAB23.

****************WHAT THE PSYCH DEPARTMENT SHOULD HAVE DONE INSTEAD AND THIS WON'T PROBABLY MATTER BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE**************************

- Make the new change effective for students who are enrolling in the Specialist programs starting this year and onwards (the department wants to make a change? Go ahead! Do it for people who are freshly starting the program so they have time to schedule their courses effectively and graduate on time)

- Allow students who are currently enrolled in PSYCH or MHS specialists to take PSYC06 or whatever replaces PSYC08 after completion of STAB23/STAB22. You aren't creating more stress and issues for students who have been enrolled in PSYC08, prior to 2026. You aren't delaying graduation and increasing fees for students.

But none of this will probably matter! Go ahead and continue making more changes and adding new prerequisites to the programs, so that those who are already ENROLLED in the Specialist or Major programs for a while can continue feeling stress from the increased tuition and the possiblity of delaying graduation.

EDIT: This seems to be affecting PSYCH and Mental Health Studies Majors, as well but those who are enrolling like Summer 2026.

EDIT: Please please email the department with your concerns.

EDIT: THIS IS AFFECTING PSYCH OR MHS SPECIALISTS
