Need Advice from Alumni. I Have Joined a Consulting Job and Unsure whether to continue or not

Hello Everyone, I am from FAST BS(CS) currently in my last semester and graduating in about a month. 2 months ago, I joined a job which was advertised as a .NET Developer job but when I joined it turned to be more on the implementation/consulting side with .NET development being just a part of it. I kept doing it for last 2 months as I didn't had any other offer in hand.

The job involves going on site to various Banks Headoffices and other customers, taking requirements from teams there, working and testing with ATM machines (and other banking machines like CDM,etc), integrating our products with their APIs, creating reports using SQL Server, also working sometimes with Networking, IT, and hardware teams in banks to debug problems in connectivity/working of our products with their systems, etc.

I really wanted to work in a core development job building scalable and high performance applications. I also have expertise in AI/ML and cloud. So I am unsure whether I am wasting time at job or is it even worth continuing there? (I don't have a job offer in hand, but can surely leave it if it's worth leaving)

The only upsides are okayish pay (around market competitive), benefits, exposure of going to various banks and meeting different people, etc

I will highly appreciate your guidance (especially if you are an alumni or a fresh grad and have some grasp about industry), thanks

What is the usual ratio of applications to interviews these days for fresh gards?

Hello everyone.

I am a CS student graduating in about a month. Over the last year, I have sent out around 90-100 applications in total, landed about 5 interviews, and received 2 offers (both for internships, no full-time role offered yet). This is driving me crazy given how much effort I’ve put into improving my resume, building multiple high-quality projects, and managing my studies alongside it all.

My university is also considered decent in the market, but despite that, this is where I stand. I am just curious about what other people who are about to graduate or have recently graduated are experiencing. What type of responses are you guys getting? I want to know if this is just a general market problem right now or a problem specifically with me.

Some people have told me that my chances will get better once I officially graduate, but honestly, I am feeling pretty hopeless about that too.

Hi everyone,

I have recieved an offer from a company for a role called 'Application Consultant' and role will be to go to different Banks take their requirements, integrate our Software with their server/system, test it, make changes/configurations as per need, may be develop some custom APIs for some banks as required, etc. Inside company this role is known as Implementation Engineer.

The company works mostly on ATM Machines, so my role might involve working and testing directly on ATM/CDM machine. They also told me to learn a little about ATMs like their states, switch, etc before joining. I have no clue whether working on ATMs is even worth it or waste of time?

My interview was .NET related so I thought it will be pure .NET dev role, but they put me in their Implementation team as they needed people in that team. They also have a product team working on multiple products.

So should I join the role they are offering?

Ask them to put me in Product team instead?

Or wait for better opportunities?

I myself is actually unaware of this role entirely and have heard it first time that such role even exist.

Would really appreciate your advice. Thank you!
