Never been pregnant after TTC for more than a year. One failed IUI and now confused about the next step

Hi everyone,
I’m 31 years old, and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for more than a year. Unfortunately, I’ve never had a positive pregnancy test or even a chemical pregnancy.
Here’s my history:
Age: 31
TTC: More than a year
AMH: 5 ng/mL
Regular cycles (~30 days)
HSG: Both tubes are open
Mild arcuate uterus (2 fertility specialists said this is not a concern)
Husband’s semen analysis is normal
Previously diagnosed with PCOS, but my recent ultrasound showed an AFC of 6, and my fertility specialist said my ovaries don’t currently have a typical PCOS appearance.
Thyroid and other routine fertility blood work are normal.
I underwent my first IUI with Letrozole, a trigger shot, and progesterone support. I developed multiple mature follicles, but unfortunately, the cycle failed and I got my period.
I recently sought a second opinion from another fertility specialist. She reviewed all my reports, performed another ultrasound herself, and said she doesn’t think I need laparoscopy or hysteroscopy at this stage. Instead, she advised me to spend the next 3 months focusing on improving egg and sperm quality with supplements, diet, and exercise, and then proceed directly to IVF instead of trying another IUI.
What worries me the most is that I’ve never been pregnant—not even once—despite having open tubes, a normal semen analysis, and no obvious abnormalities on my fertility work-up. It makes me wonder if there could be something hidden like mild endometriosis, fertilization issues, implantation problems, or egg quality issues.
Has anyone had a similar experience of:
Never getting a positive pregnancy test?
Open tubes and normal semen analysis?
First IUI failing but later conceiving?
Hidden endometriosis that wasn’t visible on HSG or ultrasound?
If you were in my situation, would you:
Try another IUI?
Go for laparoscopy/hysteroscopy?
Follow my doctor’s advice and focus on egg quality for 3 months before IVF?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences and advice. Thank you so much. ❤️

First IUI failed. Doctor suggested either another IUI or laparoscopy + hysteroscopy. I’m confused. Looking for advice.

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, my first IUI failed, and I got my period today. I had a follow-up appointment with my fertility specialist, and she gave me two options:
Try another IUI cycle.
Undergo laparoscopy + hysteroscopy before trying again.
I’m really confused about which option to choose and would love to hear from people who have been in a similar situation.
A little about my case:
Age: 31
AMH: ~6 (higher side)
PCOS
HSG: Both tubes are open
Mild arcuate uterus
All hormone tests and blood work are normal
Husband’s semen analysis is normal (good post-wash sample for IUI)
I responded well to stimulation and ovulated with multiple mature follicles in my first IUI cycle.
Has anyone with a similar profile gone straight for another IUI, or did you choose laparoscopy/hysteroscopy first? If you had surgery, did it reveal something that wasn’t seen on the HSG or ultrasound?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences and what you would do in my situation. Thank you so much.

7 DPIUI - Symptoms disappeared, does this mean my IUI failed?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently 7 DPIUI after a monitored IUI cycle. I had confirmed ovulation, multiple mature follicles, and I’m taking vaginal progesterone support.

During the first few days after IUI, I had mild lower abdominal cramps, bloating, and some discharge. But now at 7 DPIUI, the cramps have completely disappeared and I don’t really feel anything.

I’m worried because I often read about people having symptoms during the two-week wait, and now I feel almost normal.

Did anyone have symptoms early on that later disappeared and still get a positive result? Or is it normal to have no symptoms at 7 DPIUI?

Trying not to overthink, but the wait is really hard. Any experiences would be appreciated.

4 DPIUI - Mild Lower Abdominal Cramps While on Vaginal Progesterone, Normal?

Hi all ,
Had my first IUI on Monday and I’m currently 4 DPIUI. Ovulation was confirmed at the time of IUI, and I’m taking vaginal progesterone (400 mg) for luteal support.

Since yesterday I’ve been having mild lower abdominal cramps, similar to very mild period cramps and pulling sensation sometime

For those who have gone through IUI, did you experience mild cramping around 3–4 DPIUI? Was it related to progesterone, ovulation, or just a normal post-IUI symptom?

Would love to hear your experiences. Thanks!

looking for a good infertility gynecologist in Pune, preferably around Hinjewadi

Hi! I’m looking for a good infertility gynecologist in Pune, preferably around Hinjewadi side but I can travel if the doctor is really worth it. Would really appreciate genuine first-hand experiences or reviews from anyone who has gone through fertility treatment, PCOS/ovulation issues, IUI/IVF journey, etc. 🙏
