I Prefer Animations Than Live-Actions – Everything Is Now Filmed in Darkness

There's a plague in Hollywood or mainstream movies and shows. Before digital or the 2000s, you would have to prep a scene or set for lighting, even in night scenes. To see how the story unfolds would mean that everything have to be lit for the viewers. It's basic visual communication 101.

Now, with digital, you can film a scene in darkness and "fix" it in post production. It's half-ass explanation to not use lighting, to show off the digital tech or some crap. Others argue that it's a director's intention, but intentions can come off as bs to save more money. I don't want to see scenes in darkness and my eyes hurt to figure what's happening on screen.

With animation, there's not a problem. From 2-D to 3-D animations, I can watch just fine; most of the animators would plan out on the storyboards and determine what the viewers would want to see. Seriously, there's barely any shows or movies that are well planed with lighting now, and animations are the better options since it's all hand drawn

I came across this post on BlueSky by matthewdowsmith.

Basically, leave your work (visual work, writing, music, project, etc.) half-finished at the end of the day. Then you will have something to finish the next day and it will keep you moving to do more.

He elaborates further, but I will add verbatim

>Everyone's different, but for me, every morning I have to start rolling the boulder up the hill all over again, and it is so much easier for me to start with a boulder that's already in motion, if that makes sense. It still takes effort, but it's a a lot less effort than before.
