I'm so unbelievably exhausted

Hi bromos, it's been a long day

I just got off work and I'm exhausted. I make my own hours but I also school my son and take care of the house. My partner works full time so I don't have much help. I really can't wait to move and get my son in public school. I love my son with all of my heart, but I wish he would stop talking sometimes. I can't keep teaching him myself

Currently, I have to make nice with my alcoholic mother. For my son's safety and mine. And generally to keep the peace to avoid any meltdowns. I have no time to myself. I haven't had a day off since God knows when.

I had a falling out with my best friend last year but it still hurts. I mainly just blocked it out so I never processed it fully. Too much to do, not enough time to grieve. I tried to reconnect with my brother and he called me a bitch. I have anxiety and heart issues that I'm trying to manage, but the stress isn't helping. I have so few people in my life to talk to, and the ones I can I don't want to burden.

I hate this house, I hate this place (where I live, not earth). But I can't leave yet due to personal reasons. I'm trying to stay strong. I feel so overwhelmed all the time, and like a failure of a mother. I'm so scared of becoming my mother, but also terrified of overcompensating and doing just as bad or worse than her.

Everyone expects me to be like her, I'm so tired of being a shadow of my mother. Nobody in my family outside of those close to me sees me as a person, just an extension of her.

My mom will make plans with her side of the family involving my son without telling me, and then get mad when I set boundaries about it. She'll also go out of her way to spread nasty rumors about me in the family. She straight up told my grandparents that I'm a slut. Which just isn't true. Worst of all, they believed her.

I don't know what the point of this is, I just needed to vent. Thank you for reading

Tried reconnecting with my brother

Hey bromos, I need to vent. I don't have many people to talk to about this.

My brother was always a Mama's boy. And he would intentionally try to irritate me all the time. Then he would hide behind our mother because he knew she'd defend him over me. He would pick fights with me constantly, he thought it was hilarious. Of course it irritated me, I was a kid.

Well, I had my son as a teenager. Shortly after, my brother left for work. He's a little older than me. Years have gone by, and he didn't really keep in touch. I figured he was embarrassed that I was his sister because I had my son so young. Over time I've had to mature for my son, I've done a lot of thinking about how I acted in the past. I'm not the same bratty kid I was.

I have constantly tried to keep in touch with my brother. he normally ignores me though. If he doesn't, he's lecturing me on how to live my life. Finally, I was able to get him on a call. The whole time he's just rambling and talking at me, rather than to me. I have to straight up interrupt him to get a word in.

I decided to try to be the bigger person and apologize for how I acted towards him in the past. His response? He tells me I was a bitch. He didn't accept the apology, instead kept saying yeah and fine. I asked why he doesn't keep in touch much, apparently he figured I wanted alone time since he wanted it at my age . He of course brought up how that's probably difficult with my son (for some reason he always brings my son up)I told him he's welcome to keep in touch and he brushed me off by saying he has a busy schedule!

I expected both of us to take accountability and mend things, but apparently my brother is still a child at heart. I don't intend to waste my time with him, if he wants to man up he will. I'd rather not divide my attention from my son.

But honestly, I've been going through a rough patch lately and this hurt quite a bit. I know he probably didn't mean anything malicious, he isn't great with socializing because he's on the spectrum. But it still hurts and I don't really want to talk to him anymore.

I'm so tired of being expected to be perfect

I'm so exhausted at this point. At every turn people try to criticize us as mothers

How you parent, how you act, how you dress. Spending too much time with your kid or too little. They're spoiled, they're neglected. Something is always wrong with what you're doing. You just can't win. You're always doing too much or too little.

Everyone and their neighbor thinks they know what's best for you and your child. Why do people think it's okay to just criticize a Mom and a situation they know nothing about? Some people need to get off their ducking high horses

Why can't we just be treated as humans? Giving birth didn't give me superpowers. It's not like I'm void of emotion or limits just because I'm a mom now. I'm still a person. I have my highs and lows. I'm not perfect, but I'm doing my best.

I love being a mom with every fiber of my being and I give it my all. But I hate the pressure everyone puts on me because of it.

It can feel overwhelming at times. I know some people say to just ignore it, but sometimes it's hard. Especially with how common it has become.

Thank you for coming to my rant

Any advice for kids who only imitate bad habits?

I'm looking for advice from moms experienced with this type situation. You're welcome to provide your two cents if you haven't, but chances are I've already tried it.

If my son watches a show that is teaching "don't do this" he does exactly that. If there's a moral to the story he does the opposite. (he's currently 6 and has ADHD).

I only let him watch educational TV at this point since he's picked up so many bad habits from "fun" shows that were trying to teach good habits. Spidey and his Amazing Friends, Paw Patrol, Super Kitties, Daniel Tiger, and Pokemon have all resulted in disaster.

He loves imitating other kids, shows, adults ANYTHING. Especially if it's flashy. Unfortunately that's normally bad habits such as stomping, yelling, growling, throwing fits, etc.

Are there any moms here who have dealt with this? I could use any and all helpful advice. Thank you!

I can't wait to have my mother out of me and my son's lives

I'm not looking for advice, I just really need to vent.

When my son reached school age, my mom decided she wanted to homeschool him. However, I quickly found out she has changed a lot since she last taught kids

For one, she drinks and smokes non-stop throughout the day, about 1 to 2 packs a day. If anyone mentions her problem, she gets completely pissed off. She's forgetful and careless. She would tell my son misinformation just to save her ego from having to research things she didn't know. She would also criticize him constantly for not doing perfectly and lose her patience with him, all while never acknowledging anything he did well. He's only 6 years old and has ADHD

I tried to discuss it politely, but everything devolves into an argument with her. So, I took over his schooling, and I plan on putting him in public school when I move. I try my best to keep her away from my son. If I try to set boundaries, she loses her mind and throws a pity party about how nobody loves her, which just causes her to drink even more. I can't wait until I don't have to worry about this anymore. This is hell

It's so incredibly exhausting. She's hostile and constantly tries to force her way into my life and my son's life, or she randomly tries to pick fights. She refuses to treat me like an adult and tries to monitor everything I do, especially when it involves how I parent my son. I constantly walk on eggshells around her since the smallest thing can set her off.

I cannot wait to cut her off. She refuses to listen or get help. I'm done trying for someone who doesn't care and is actively causing problems

My son has me so exhausted

My son, 6 years old, has an absolutely awful temper. Everything that doesn't involve him getting his way makes him angry. I'm not sure where this is coming from, he's not around temperamental kids or adults.

I'm really really tired of it. He's always stomping, growling, clawing at the air. He even clawed me recently when he didn't get what he wanted immediately. I try to encourage managing his temper calmly, such as counting down or just acknowledging it and taking deep breaths. In his recent tantrum he nearly hurt one of my pets. I took away some of his privileges and he showed no sympathy towards his actions, only anger that he didn't get his way.

On top of which, he recently went through an intense lying phase. He still does it to an extent but not as much. I have such a hard time trusting him now and I feel awful about it. But every time I have placed my trust in him it turned out he was lying. It makes me feel so sad.

When I buy him toys or do nice things for him, he's immediately asking for more stuff. He could literally be walking out of the store with me while holding a new toy asking for something else. It's so exhausting. I understand that children will be children, but boy does it make me feel awful.

He has also recently learned that he's capable of choosing not to speak properly. He has been speaking very well, but now he will intentionally mispronounce words, it's so frustrating because I can hardly understand him at times. He thinks it's hilarious

I swear I'm talking to a brick wall at times. I love my son so much but he does not seem to care about what I say. If I try to explain that his actions were wrong, or that maybe we could try to approach things differently, he literally does not listen. And it's not for the lack of memory, he remembers everything else so well. But when I speak to him he phases out.

I'm just so frustrated and tired right now. I'm giving 100% trying to be a good mom, and it feels like I'm failing and it doesn't matter

It will never be enough, will it

I'm just looking to vent a bit, I'm not looking for advice.

God being a mom can be so frustrating, with everything I have to deal with as a mother. And on top of those struggles, everyone thinks they know better than me

I can't go through my day without someone acting like they know how to parent better than me. Or without any kind of judgment. It doesn't matter what age you have your kid, people will still find a way to find fault in it. Too young too old.

If you're breaking yourself doing the absolute most for your child, people will still find fault.

Heaven forbid I take ANY time for myself, because then I'm failing as a mom. I only exist for my son apparently. It starts to feel like people don't see me as a person, rather they see me as their expectations of a parent. I can't make mistakes, I can't have tired days. It gets to a point where I don't even want to confide my struggles in people because they're just looking for reasons to tear me apart.

But in the same breath, if I spend too much time with my son, people see me as boring. If I have friends that aren't moms I'm the boring mom friend who is always too busy. If I have mom friends, I'm doing too much and trying to make them "look bad".

And the sad thing is, it's everywhere I go. Save a few good close people. Online and in real life. From doctors being unable to hold their judgment, even in passing, to people targeting me online for being a mother. We're expected to be mothers but then we're scrutinized for everything we do

I'd like to finish this rant by thanking this sub. I have never felt more welcome anywhere. Thank you BroMos for being so great

Perpetual exhaustion as a mom

I'm in my early 20's yet I feel absolutely ancient. Everything on me constantly aches. I had no idea being a mother would be this draining

I love my son so very much but WOW am I tired. Between teaching, going outside, playing, and everything in-between, I'm so tired. Everything is so draining

Do you ever stop feeling so exhausted?? I'm really struggling these days, it doesn't help that I'm anemic either (but I take supplements though).

My son is growing up so fast

Hi Bromos, I don't have anywhere to gush about this so I'd love to do it here

My son just turned 6 about a month ago, and he's growing up so fast. He surprises me every day with the different things he does and says. I'm just so surprised at how far he has come. He is my everything and I'm so proud of him.

He likes helping me clean and is actually kind of good at it. He loves drawing with me and is such a wonderful little artist. If I forget he has a loose tooth he'll remind me so I won't make him a meal that might be uncomfortable to eat. We play board games together and sometimes he does stuff so fast that I have to stop and retrace his steps only to find out he did everything perfectly. We go outside and play and he's so mindful of his surroundings

I love my little munchkin so much and it's leaving me emotional 😭🩷

How do I know/check if a sub has a karma limit?

I can't comment or post in some subs because of a karma limit, but it seems like every sub in going too has one. Do subs say when they have karma limits? I wanted to participate in some gaming subs and I wanted to see if I can check before trying to participate (since it's disheartening trying to start a discussion only to be removed)
