Tarot Reading

I'm starting CM tonight. The players have picked their Fateweaving options in session zero, and I have an idea for which tarot card would suit some of the PCs based on their backstories and fates, but I'm less certain on others.

Brief list:

  • Rogue, Thread of Liberation. Wheel of Fortune felt appropriate as they're going for a gambler theme and want to lean into jinxcraft.
  • Sorcerer, Thread of Apocalypse. I was leaning towards The Hanged Man as they have a musical theme.
  • Fighter, Thread of Immortality. Justice, as the player is playing a dhampir and wants to lean into vampire stuff. I didn't go with Hierophant because they want to punch.
  • Ranger, Thread of Rapture. I went with the Lovers due to their backstory (she went with a cult and spreading the word of a cult leader). I'm not sure if this is the best choice. I also find myself wondering about how late they receive the item.
  • Barbarian, Thread of Evolution. Leaning hard into Frankenstein's monster vibe. I was thinking about Temperance, but the veil didn't feel like a great item for a barbarian despite the strong thematic ties to Lethica. Then I thought about Chariot as the scythe felt okay (but then there's overlap if I stick with Hanged Man above). I'm still uncertain about this one.

I've thought about giving each of them a random roll for a second card, but figure it might be too powerful long term in a horror campaign.

Question is - how did you guys approach your tarot readings? Did you try and personalize, leave it random, just give them all the items, etc.?

WSIB - Creature Collectors on Steam

I'm most familiar with the Pokémon series and have played some of its various romhacks, but I am looking for something new. Not a fan of PvP or high difficulty stuff (i.e. Nuzlockes or roms where difficulty is a selling point). I enjoy good writing and cool monster designs.

I tried Monster Sanctuary about a year ago for about 9 hours and found it okay, though it didn't hold my attention. Have tried nothing else in this genre outside of like... Persona 5 (collecting personas makes it a creature collector kinda?) and Spirit City: Lofi Sessions, which I use as a productivity app when working.
