I'm Cheating
I don't like idle games. I like games where I am constantly doing something. However, Cookie Clicker caught my fancy when run from a browser.
I run Cookie Clicker in my Firefox browser. I wrote Firemonkey scripts that play the game. For me, writing the scripts was the fun part. I say I am cheating because a person wouldn't be able to do what my scripts are doing..
Here are the scripts.
- Focus hacker - tricks the game to think the tab has the focus even though I am using another tab.
- Cookie clicker - just clicks the big cookie - manual clicks are still faster some how
- Shimmer clicker - clicks a shimmer to get a bonus cookies per second (CpS)
- Upgrade clicker - clicks an upgrade as soon as I can afford it
- Building clicker - figures out the best building to buy and buys it when there are enough cookies
Let's talk about strategy.
My first version would simply click on any building I could afford. My progress was slow.
The best building upgrade is the one that gives you the most CpS for cookies spent. This could be a building that is relatively cheap and gives a small increase in CpS. I would like to distill this into a general rule, but I shoot down anything I come up with since I haven't tested that general rule very well.
Of course, a CpS upgrade to a particular building will increase the number of those buildings by about 5. I haven't seen a time when a building at the top of the list had a smaller count than a building below it... not with my upgrade strategy.
The problem I am facing is prestige levels. I am currently at 74 trillion prestige levels, and I am trying to finish off upgrading in the development tree. Everything is done except I am chasing down 3 branches right now. Do you know how I can get more prestige levels faster?
