In a possible G2 Remake I'd like to have a quest to retrieve Uriziel from the Sleeper Temple

Sure, the blade should loose it's power again and be a normal sword, still powerful though. Even back in the days I would have loved to revisit the temple in G2 to find and see what has become of it, find templar corpses and even Cor Caloms body with a diary of some sort. I hope, when G2R happens they expand on that. There are even some very favorable mods for G2 for that.

Gothic 3 Remake/Reboot: The Major Lore Inconsistency

The biggest disconnect between Gothic 2 and Gothic 3 is precisely what is supposed to motivate the Nameless Hero to set sail for Myrtana

As can be inferred from the previous titles, it is not entirely clear whether our protagonist is truly interested in saving the Kingdom of Myrtana

In both Gothic 1 and Gothic 2, the hero joins factions purely for personal gain. We never learn his personal thoughts on what is happening in Myrtana

Even in Gothic 2, one might ask: why do I have to kill these dragons? Why do I need to get rid of Raven? I believe Piranha Bytes intended to portray a threat of global destruction. In Raven's case, I find this somewhat implausible, but with the dragons, it makes more sense. Consider other fantasy universes like *Game of Thrones*, where Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters destroyed armies, cities, and castles, imposing their rule precisely through the use of dragons. Thus, the idea that dragons pose a danger to the entire world is understandable and justifies much of the protagonist's actions in Gothic 2. After all, the plot isn't all that different from that of Gothic 1 with the Sleeper, either.

This would pose a problem should developers and writers ever approach a potential Gothic 3 remake or reboot, since the ending of Gothic 2 reveals that Xardas’s plan had been to seize the powers of Beliar’s archdemons (the Sleeper and the Undead Dragon) all along, thereby effectively making him the saga’s final villain. After the revelation, the hero flies into a rage, even though he never really cared about politics or divine matters. And indeed, Gothic 3 subsequently takes a very confusing narrative direction, frequently contradicting everything we were told in the first two games. Suddenly, Xardas is no longer evil; for some bizarre reason, he decides to rid the world of the gods by destroying five artifacts and two scepters, intending to leave the world alongside the protagonist. But why specifically these five artifacts and two scepters? It is evident that the world of *Gothic* could harbor many others, hidden and forgotten within temples and ruins. After all, the sword Uriziel itself is described as an "Artifact of Innos"—which makes sense—yet this does not explain why the gods would vanish simply because the specific sacred objects mentioned in *Gothic 3* are destroyed. Divine influence over the world would not disappear if other divine artifacts remained in existence. The entire neutral ending—which some call the "Adanos ending"—makes no sense in its current state. Beliar's ending makes even less sense. The only one that holds any water is Innos ending, though even that is poorly executed and lacks narrative depth.

So, given the possibility that the saga's third game might be reimagined in the coming years, why should the hero suddenly care about the fate of Myrtana or Xardas's intentions?

Why not steer the Esmeralda towards places far removed from the war or any divine chaos?

What motivation might drive the hero to intervene in the War of Myrtana?

(In my opinion, one reason might be that Xardas poses a threat of total world destruction. Admittedly, it is nothing original, but there is a reason why certain narrative clichés are frequently used and prove effective. One shouldn't always chase the unexpected when it makes no narrative sense, is boring, or simply doesn't work as a coherent narrative conclusion)

Gothic Remake: Alkimia Developers not caring about Small Details... (Horses, Spears, Helmets)

The problem of Alkimia Developers (and Story/Lore Writers) not caring about smaller details and creating confusing Lore is exactly what led Pyranha Bytes into the failure of Gothic 3 and then what led the saga into disasters like Forsaken Gods or Arcania from Spellbound Studio

In the Mountain Fortress of the Valley of Mines rather curious and bizarre details appear in several paintings. It almost seems like the person who designed this stuff has never actually seen the real game. A disconnect between those developing the Gothic lore and those actually developing the game itself. Indeed, the aforementioned paintings feature, for instance, horses, spears, and helmets, three elements completely absent from the game for reasons that are equally bizarre and truly implausible

The current game introduces a scavenger mount, which is fine; it’s nice to have more than one type of creature to ride. Yet horses are completely absent, a fact never mentioned or explained in the game, despite paintings depicting them. Indeed, it is impossible to explain how humans could transport extremely heavy loads from the mine to the main settlement without the help of pack animals. The same goes for helmets or spears. And the same applies to shields as well

The failure to care about lore or minor details of consistency is precisely what led to abominations like Gothic 3, Forsaken Gods, and Arcania, effectively sealing the fate of the videogame saga. Unfortunately, Alkimia seems to be repeating the same mistakes made by Piranha Bytes. Such a slavishly faithful approach, even regarding nonsensical design choices, will not work if they ever attempt to tackle a complex game like Gothic 3 (I do not even consider the other two titles canon).

Gothic Remake: Alkimia Developers' absurd motivations for not adding Helmets and Shields

The Gothic Remake Podcast Episode 02 is the only time when the lead game designer, Javi Untoria, addresses the issue behind the missing feature of helmets and shields

The motivations explained are quite ridiculous, It is clearly evident that this statement was made by someone who knows nothing about medieval equipment. There has been no in-depth research—as is often the case with many video games, TV series, or films that pass themselves off as "medieval." The fantasy element may certainly allow for some creative liberties, but not to the point of the sheer absurdity and ignorance of the subject matter displayed in the podcast

What exactly is a "combat direct and visceral"...? What do you mean with this, dear Javi Untoria...? Have you ever tried fighting in armor yourself? Try doing it without a helmet, and then we'll talk... If you mean that the combat is violent, well, then I can guarantee that your best friends in this case are a good helmet and a sturdy shield. The exact opposite of what you claim

"We didn't like the defence system that will make it more static". Presumably you are referring to the shields in this case or so I would hope. Well, if the defense system within the combat mechanics you developed sucks, that’s a problem for you as developers. All I see here is a lack of skill on the developers' part. If the combat becomes static, you work on it to ensure that doesn't happen. You certainly don't use such bullshit as an excuse not to include shields or helmets

Dear Javi Untoria, in the original Gothic 1, helmets and shields weren't included due to a lack of time and budget, as well as technical limitations of the era. It was 2001 not 2026! Yet, you try to pass this off as a "design choice" or an attempt to stay "faithful to the original". Your design choices are obsolete and make absolutely no sense

Where are the Asian People in Gothic?

In Gothic games there seems to be a lot of people from different etnicity, white people, black people, middle eastern/arabian people. Only asian people are missing in this fantasy world? Is there any logical reason for this? Something that has to do with the Lore?

Gothic Remake: 2001 Technical Limitations as Questionable Design Choices in 2026 (Examples: Helmets, Shields, Spears, Dual Wielding and so on...)

Gothic Remake is a good game, not perfect in all his aspects. The problem is that is basically impossible to have a serious or civil discussion on certain aspects and details of the game. Usually every kind of criticism, especially on smaller details (for some reason in particular helmets and shields) is not tolerated and condemned by the majority of the users without many logical arguments. When one doesn't know how to justify something that makes no sense, it is quite common to get angry and avoid the discussion.

Common examples "arguments" regarding this particular topic are "It's not in the original"; "Who cares"; "Goblins stole all the helmets and shields"; "King Rhobar requisitioned all the helmets"; "Gothic is a helmetless world"; "I want to see all NPCs faces"; "Gothic is fantasy"; "The Colony is a small place"; "Convicts are not soldiers"; "It's a signature of the series. No helmets"; "Helmets are ugly"; "Doesn't fit Gothic"; "Nah"; plus all the insults towards me, which I honestly don't care at all.

So while a couple of this arguments could have some reasoning behind the lack of armor pieces in the Valley of Mines (Colony being a small places and convicts being a disorganized gang of outlaws), the other reasons seem to be mostly personal preferences, which are also fine. But again I still don't understand why having helmets that you can put on or remove with a 4th slot in the inventory would damage so much the experiences of these players, essentially nobody would have forced you to equip a helmet. On the other side for some reason there is the idea of wanting to limit a lot the customization possibilities of other players. At this point, after all these turbolences, the question is why do you even care of what other players would use or not use?

If in 2001 there weren't many features mentioned, which is undestandable given the technology and time limitations back then, now some basic missing features of modern RPGs game are no longer justifiable in 2026. And the same matter could be said for spears/halberds or the dual wielding combat system.

Are there any logical arguments, not personal preferences, behind the decision of having skeleton warriors wearing helmets while not having not even one single NPC wearing one? A model of this type of skeleton warrior is even present at the starting area, with his helmet on, why a guard like Orry for example didn't think of going there and picking it up? The convicts are not soldiers that's true, but they all steal equipment here and there. So why also not a helmet, a shield or a spear?

Gothic Remake: Helmets Concepts Ideas

Images have been shared on Discord. I am not the creator of these concepts/ideas. Just sharing some ideas that people have come up with. I think two or three of these helmets would look cool on medium and heavy armors in the game, distributed randomly among NPCs

Gothic Remake: Helmets and Hoods Controversy… Development Issues?

I have a question, in which exact moment the developers of Gothic 1 Remake, Alkimia Interactive Team, said specifically they didn’t want wearable helmets and hoods in the game? Not even once in their “making of” video series they addressed the helmets issue.

Several images of development from their “making of” series show that helmets and hoods were in development both for humans and Orcs. Attaching images of the development down below. So at this point I am only asking what happened to these concepts? Images are even from one of their most recent videos… did they had problems with this specific aspect (helmets) during the development of the game?

If someone can provide proof or specific informations with video links or articles in which the developers clearly declare that they’re not doing helmets for some reason, it will be interesting to see or read. Since there are people who says that Gothic is a “helmetless” fantasy world (which btw is blatantly false since Orcs, Skeletons and even Goblins wear helmets in the remake version, and even in the intro it is possible to see royal guards wearing helmets), then I invite these fans to show proof of what they say

Female Characters in Gothic 2 and 3 Remakes

Velaya and Nadja are female characters that I would like to see more story content for them, more prominent roles in Gothic 2 Remake and even embarking on the Esmeralda at the end and go to Myrtana in Gothic 3 Remake.

There could potential story for these two to become warriors, followers and romance options for Nameless Hero. It would parallel Nameless Hero's journey from nothing to hero.

If they remake Gothic 2 and 3, women in general should have more prominent roles and interesting stories

Gothic Remake: Helmets and Hoods for NPCs

As for pure cosmetic options, two or three simple types of helmets could be used by random NPCs (Medium/Heavy Guards, Medium/Heavy Mercenaries and Heavy Templars) throughout the game. Important NPCs will still be without them. It just adds a bit of realism. It would be great if also the Hero can wear them without changing anything related to the balance. With one more slot. Same matter for hoods in case of mages and bandits. If the Hero cannot wear them, fine at least give some of them to NPCs
