36M USA guy looking for a new buddy.

Hey everyone, 36-year-old Midwest guy here coming at you live from the absolute dead zone of the night shift. I’m a military vet, a dad, and currently bored out of my mind looking for some decent people to chat with and kill the time. When I’m not working or holding down the fort at home, you can usually find me hitting the gym, hanging out with my dog, or diving down some massive history rabbit hole. I’m also a huge horror movie buff, so if you’ve got any solid recommendations that’ll actually keep me on the edge of my seat, send them my way.

Just a fair heads-up before you slide into my DMs: my sense of humor leans pretty heavily into witty sarcasm, and I don't really do the whole politically correct thing. If you’re easily offended, we probably won't click, but if you appreciate a good laugh, don't take life too seriously, and can handle some banter, we'll get along just fine. Drop a comment or hit me up with whatever random thought is on your mind tonight. Let's see where the conversation goes.

Who else’s company has a really nice climate controlled smoke pit for the tobacco fiends?

Hypothetically speaking, how well do you and your ex partner actually get along and agree on parenting life?

I’m not going to dive into full details, but I’m definitely fighting an uphill battle with my ex partner. We have 2 kids, do 50/50 custody, have completely different mindsets and logics in life, ect. We are basically opposites.

For context, we are in a better mental space then we were post fresh divorce, we can agree on major issues and talk civil and proper when it’s essential. So don’t take it as a complete dumpster fire.

I’m at the point that I don’t even want to talk to her unless it’s absolutely necessary. Everything out of her mouth is an insult and a negative judgement. The conflicts arise when I get left reprimanding our older child for behavior issues.

She plays the “friend” and the fun side, I get left doing punishments and the leg work. Then once it’s back on her time, it’s like nothing ever happened and she never had a say in groundings, talkings to, keeping up with school work and grades ect. I don’t mind instilling good morals and integrity, but I’m burnt out on always getting talked down to and being the authority figure on punishments.

Is it just me who feels like this, or is this a semi common issue?
