DIY repair of dingy tiller

I have tried (and failed) to repair a carbon fibre dinghy tiller already.

Now I'm going to ask for advice before my second attempt...

I need to fix a fitting to the carbon fibre tiller as it came off. My attempt was to fix about half an inch forward of the original fixing.

I also put Araldite on the screws before I screwed it on. I additionally bedded the cleat with Araldite to glue it on as well as screwing it on.

Unfortunately it came off again.

What I think I need to do is to put something inside to screw into. However the only access is the end of the tiller, 14" away. Any idea how I could clean the inside well enough to get some Isopon P40 to stick and how to get it in at all?

Any other ideas welcome.

Resurrecting an old Walkman - Guess drive belts have perished.

Does anyone have any advice on whether or not this is doable?

I'm guessing the three circled clips pop the cover (I can't see anything else). Can someone confirm please.

Are replacement belts still available? If so, can someone post a link.

Or do I need to open it up to find the size of belts needed before I look online.

ETA: I'm in the UK if that makes a difference.

Why do you call liquid fuel for a car "gas"?

In school, I assume you learn about the three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas.

But then you go on to call a liquid hydrocarbon "gas".

It has always confused me...
