ICE asked a friend who is seeking political asylum to bring all documents to 26 Federal Plaza
Not sure if anyone here has experience with this.
My friend has been in the U.S. for almost 3 years and is seeking political asylum from Russia. Today, he was asked to bring all of his immigration documents to an appointment. When he arrived, there were many other people there as well.
They told everyone, "You know you have a court hearing coming up, right?" Then they collected everyone's passports and said they would return them after their court hearings and once everything was resolved.
Does anyone know if this is normal? Has anyone experienced something similar? His next court hearing is in August, and he's worried that this could mean he's going to be deported.
Any insight would be appreciated.
